Why don't Bohemia Interactive make dayz for mac?

Don't they know that mac users also want to play dayz. Now I've wanted to play dayz since it started as a mod on steam I remember how annoyed I was to find I couldn't play it. Plus don't people think Bohemia Interactive should make it for mac, because they would make a lot of people happy and themselves.

Is BI working on DayZ? I thought it was a offspring of that studio.

Though, I would imagine the first problem is the fact that the engine isn't designed for it. Something I doubt will ever be able to be changed, really.

Yes, and they should have a build for Linux and BSD and Amiga and the TRS80 and ...

Seriously, I'm a Linux fan and with Steam now running natively on Linux nothing would make me happier than to see DayZ ported over. However, let's take it one step at a time, If they can't get DayZ to run worth a damn on Windows, it will surely run like ass on any other platform.

A port is possible, and they have mentioned that they want the game available on multiple platforms, though the only confirmed one is PS4 so far.

But it won't happen until the windows version is finished.

I don't even understand? There's only one Bohemia Interactive and that is the studio working on DayZ.

If you're referring to BI Simulations - that is an entirely different company. They're not even affiliated nor owned by Bohemia Interactive anymore, though - and only make military grade simulations.

The windows version is still in Alpha, obviously porting it across to new operating systems is something that comes much later in development even if the devs decide it's something they'd like to do.

Oh, I thought a offspring of Bohemia was working on DayZ, and not Bohemia itself.

I believe Bohemia bought up Dean's idea which started as a 3p mod on their software Arma3.

AFAIK it's a wholly owned property of BI.

Couldn't you just set up windows on your mac and run it through that? I am sure that is what my friend did with Arma 2 DayZ... Don't see why it wouldn't work for this too?

There are many things involved with developing a video game, the most relevant to this topic is multi-platform support.  Keep in mind, Bohemia is a business with only so many resources available.  Decisions are made whether to expand a game to other platforms, dependent upon manpower, resources, availability, knowledge of future platform, etc.  Although it would be awesome to see DayZ in as many platforms as we could imagine, which would make many a players happy, it just isn't always a viable option when it comes to develop.  There are many things to consider when making this decision and Bohemia is in the business of making money as well as making great games.  So there will always be a balance.

Hello there

One has to figure in whether its worth the resources to make a Mac version vs the income it could generate.

Is there a vast Mac user base that will buy DAYZ?

Personally, i'd like to see a version of DAYZ on all relevant platforms from Android to Console to Mac/ipad. Will it happen? Lets wait and see.

Rgds
