Items draw speed

Recommended Posts

I have a suggestion about the way putting in or out items in inventory works and the inventory slots system

Its about how fast you should be able to get and item out in your hands

For example the inventory can be represented in color and pockets depending on how easy is to access certain items

- if the item is in your pocket ,vests front pockets or a weapon holster you should be able to access it very fast , however if is deep in your backpack it should not be so easy to get it out .You might have to put the backpack in your hands or on the ground and then start moving items in or out -- I'm sure it will be very annoying to do this every time you have to put something in the bag but is't more realistic. For example you can be able to take items on the run and put them in your pockets but not in your backpack  - to put them in the backpack you will have to stop and open it from the inventory menu and if you don't close it when you start running you may lose some items after a while .

- A pistol in a backpack should not be fast and easy to access .

- If stealth and stealing is introduced later in the game it will help make it more realistic - items in your side and front pockets of the backpack might be easier to steal than those put deep in the backpack .

I like the idea. It could be beautifully combined with the pocket system by making the access speed depend on the pocket.

This way the backback becomes more of a storing and carrying device as access is pretty long while vests would serve as limited quick access inventory.

You can even combine it with the reloading system by making quick reload (via reload button) only work on quick access pockets. So if you have your bullets elsewhere you have to search for them inside your backpack as usual.

Part of that is already implemented, as you may notice that drawing a weapon from your west doesn't make you stop running whereas drawing a weapon from your pants/backback does.

Also:

- Why do we need to keep running until the weapon is drawn if we were running when we started drawing it?

- We should be able to quickly draw a pistol or a new mag from the chest holster, vests, a bit slower from the pants. Very slow from a backpack. New items like hip holsters for pistols and sawed-off shotguns (like in Mad Max) would be great. Maybe some holsters for quickly drawing a knife or a bayonette?

- Someone in another topic suggested that if you quickly draw a pistol from a chest holster you should drop your current weapon on the ground. This is a good idea, items like slings (to prevent dropping) would fit great into this system. There could be different types of slings working better in CQB but worse in long range shooting etc.

- Drawing a rifle from your back should be a bit faster. This is the apocalypse, adrenaline makes you act faster. Besides, the current speed is very slow, even for an untrained shooter.
