Caviano 287 Posted July 15, 2012 The maximum effective range in which the bullet will hit the designated mark.example, zeroed at 300 meters means that if the target is within 300 meters, your bullet will hit directly where you are aiming.
Zexis 127 Posted July 15, 2012 Has to do with sighting the rifle. That is, zeroing in on your target.Though I haven't done it yet in this game and am not sure if we actually mark and adjust for distance.
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted July 15, 2012 If you have a gun that allows you to zero the scope (sniper rifles and a few others) it means you can adjust the scope to account for the bullet drop to the distance of your target.Eg: You have a target in your sights at 800 metres. You have it in the middle of your crosshair and fire a shot. The bullet hits the floor before it reaches the target because of gravity. If you zero your scope to 800 metres and then line up your shot in exactly the same way and shoot again, you hit you target right in the mush. Cool innit!
