How to have 2 different characters using regedit ?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I saw in a post ( http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:r6pSQB1onT4J:dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php%3Ftid%3D12556+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk check the post by crimsonking). That you could have 2 different DayZ characters (gear, position etc.) By making different copies of your registry, one for each CD Key of OA. However, in my registry under Bohemia Interactive Studio there is only the Folder 'ArmA 2 OA' with the files Default and Player Name, neither of which list my CD Key.

My question is this, if I follow the thread (it also specifies that there should be more than 1 sub-folder) will I be able to have 2 different characters via 2 OA/Steam accounts ?

Thanks,

Icy

The key is stored in "Bohemia Interactive Studio" as binary. It would look like this

Simply delete the value, or make a bat file to do so, and launch the "other" game from the steam account.

*Note* I dont know if its works, you can damage your PC if you dont know what you are doing, do it on your own risk.

Thanks for the fast reply, note that I bought the combined ops package through steam. Here's a couple of pictures of my Bohemia Interactive Studio Regedit entry, note I searched for ArmA 2 PMC / ArmA 2 BOA and regedit found nothing. http://imgur.com/yH2HO,sJk7S Thanks.

For some reason my regedit seems to be layed out differently, I don't know where it's getting my CD Key from but it's not from my registry. See the pics above.

Tried that, still nothing in my regedit, made sure I launched each separately.

Very very weird. Try and run each game .exe as administrator, if that dont solve it i am slightly lost. You could try and delete the whole registry folder(the arma one obviously) and relaunche the game and see if it re-creates, this MIGHT render the game useless unless you reinstall. Not all games are able to just rewrite to registry
