Build 1.7.2 Rolling Update

Recommended Posts

No doubt the devs are well aware of the problems, but to "FIX" stuff you can't just press a button to make it magically be awesome and well balanced.

You have to focus on one thing at a time.. you say you know it's aplha "blablabla" then fucking act like you know. Everything you say basically contradics in to a major clusterfuck that actually means that you want the game to be as you please.

So let me tell you Sir, before you reply with something even more illogical - Welcome to The Apocalypse!

About the fix button, Rocket himself said DC could be fixed easily. If they have to focus on anything, you really disagree that this should be it? You really think that the worst problem this game has right now is that the zombies are too easy? Or that we don't have bear traps? Hell no, I appreciate it that they are trying to make changes to the way we connect to the servers and added some anti-hacking protection instead of just waiting for Battleye, but I do think that DC and Server Hopping are absolute priorities. Thats not wanting the game to be as I please, I don't care if the zombies are 999% harder, just at least try to fix the tons of exploits this game has. I don't think he is being illogical at all.

1.7.2.2 will be released today

Nice!

It was progressing, now it's regressing.. 1.7.2, worst update yet, nuff said.

And all you keep saying, it's alpha it's alpha, why don't you contribute instead of just talking trash to other users that are making legitimate complaints with their usage of the game, they are, in a sense reporting issues..

And you aren't adding to it by complaining about the arguers.

This update has done nothing to regress the mod. The zombies are easy as hell to get by if you have a pinch of patience and gunshots barely call out zombies as badly as before.

The game runs smoother and melee is working better. Plus it is a rolling update. Anything wrong particularly with this update will be fixed or tweaked soon. Hence rolling update.

I never said it could be fixed easily. I know how to fix it, but is a major architectural update that has the potential for serious risk. It will need significantly more testing, I mean weeks if not months, rather than just being rolled out in a standard update.

Many of the people who are first to demand fixes to items ASAP as game-breakers and the first to complain when fixes are added and then cause more bugs.

I am not sure if anyone other than me has noticed with fire pits that they can only be lit once. After being lit when you try to light them again they go directly out. Im not sure if this is only me but i have noticed this for quite some time. i havent seen any other forum on it.

You need to put more wood pile's onto the fire (think like minecraft). You can only light the fire if it has a wood pile in it.

You actually can cook twice on a fire pit, the option to cook meat comes up for a second so you need to be fast.. It worked for me last night.

Also a lot of people know this one. I believe its due to server lag and it cannot be fixed by rocket.

But thats just what my unprofessional opinion is. Im not sure the facts about it

I was talking about this:

Disconnecting to avoid death IS an exploit.

It will be patched out, very easily, in a future update. The update is ready to go and will be released when the Beta patch for ArmA2 is out.

But as somewhat of a software developer myself, I do understand it will be a lot of work, I was surprised when you said this. I wouldn't mind the bugs this could cause, but of course I don't know how the rest of the community would react.

I havent seen much regarding this but after updating to 1.7.2 I have an fps stutter while playing, I'm at 60 fps almost constantly while playing and no problems with 1.7.1.5 but now my fps will drop every 2-3 seconds from 60 to about 50 and it almost freezes my screen during this, granted just for a second.

Touche', you are correct. I explained that very poorly.

The fix itself is very easy (simply logging server logins into the database). But the "how" to punish/prevent is proving difficult. Probably worth a serious discussion on the forums in a separate topic. I can detect when someone server hops, or disconnects, but how and when to issue punishment is proving very troublesome.

I noticed in the changelog that the problems with the ghillie and camo are supposedly fixed in 1.7.2.1, does this apply to the l85 being removed upon login as well?

Yeah.. getting a system that does not punish the innocent but stops the clever bastards who dream up these glitches is gonna be tough.

I predict we, the innocent, will just have live with some distribution / restrictions to stop this disruptive behaviour. Good luck... this is the major issue with the persistent sandbox format that needs addressing IMO.

Considering i try and play on one server... i look forward to whatever you do.. if i dc and cant play for 30 minutes or something.. no big issue.. be worth it.

http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=11329 this is my idea.

Short: implement some kind of dynamic log-off-timer.

Assume that 1.7.2.2 just includes changes from the 1.7.1.2 patch?

Haven't seen any discussion of Z behaviour from devs so assume they want to keep for longer and see if people adjust.

Any future plans to lower the damage on the Enfield and AKM?

It takes the AKM 1 shot to the body of zombies, for them to die - and it takes the M4 3 shots. The Enfield can kill all zombies, and all players with 1 shot. At 400m range, you may need one final shot to finish the deal on players with the enfield - but they will just lay there and bleed out anyways. It just seams too overpowered for a "starting" weapon.

The 1.7.2 patch is great. Felt the FPS heighten etc, so with a desync patch, and some tidying up - it will be great fun playing this weekend!

Also wanted to give a shoutout to the team - with the tremendous amount of good work they put into this. Even in Alpha version, this game has givem me more fun, paranoia, depressions than any game I have ever played.

Rocket, please do not release the Patch today in the evening. The Hive and the servers will crash then. Release it in morning (if not today then tomorrow).

I also want to express my gratitude and admiration for the maker/s of this.

You have my support all the way!

p.s: DO make a thread to discuss penalties to exploiters, coz I AM a bit concerned about unintentional disconnections and suffering the slap myself :(
