Why going north is way better than camping at the coast and having a deathmatch all the time

Recommended Posts

That was a very good video and shows the good side of DayZ. The outro music made me feel I was in the 80s, lol.

nice vid hope it encourages more folks to come north or at least west, that hold-up at the beginning was smooth.

Trying to convince people what is fun and what is better, based on subjective opinion, is real cute. Don't ruin your next video by trying convince people that your opinion is the best one.

I just shown what in my opinion is DayZ, isn't this allowed? I don't know if I'm correct in 100%. But there is one that I'm sure about in 100% ... Dayz is not coast deathmatch mate. There is a reason this map is that big. Small area + PvP all the time = go cod or bf.

Everyone got the right to speak his oppinion. The worst you can do is not respecting it. I fight in the West and Northern part of the map. I have way better pvp over there more intensence. Besides that people care about there character and will serender easier and take the chance to stay alive.

Ever tried it? going north?

This post is a collision of outright ignorance, flagrant hypocrisy and an aggravated assault on common sense.

1) Nowhere did he try to "convince" anyone of "what is fun and better." He made a video that introduced any range of viewers what life outside the 3 city limits is like and makes a departure from the outright saturation of pvp Berezino / Cherno / Elektro videos.

2) His video was only "ruined" in your "subjective opinion" because you didn't agree with it.

3) Coming in here, trashing the video and his opinion was just grandstanding on behalf of your online anonymity.

Everyone is entitled to post their opinion- yes even you... at the expense of respecting some very basic and fundamental protocols: A little respect for the person, the idea and yourself.

How about write this next time instead:

Not a bad video. Good quality, but while I respect your opinion it doesn't accurately represent how everyone wants to play the game. Thank you for taking the time for trying to expand our community by introducing new and old players to a different side of the game.

Or one step down from that:

Not bad but lots of people don't play that way and never will. You play your way and we'll play our way.

And a step down like that:

Kill all sonsabitches... them's my 'fishal instructions!

Let me guess you spend most of your time in kamyshovo? Douche rocks probably with a Winchester 70? Lol

The OP is helping with getting a great point across, one that I'm sure the devs want people to hear.

Hello there

Right, lets stop bashing eachother rightly or wrongly and get back on the topic.

@Parazight the way forward is as ENO75 states in his/her post.

It better to be constructive than come across as a bit of a bellend.

Regardless, thats the end to the matter.

Onwards and upwards!

Rgds

I thought the video was alright, actually.  The encounters stood on their own.  There was no reason why he needed to try and sell the idea that the north was better than the coast.  It didn't help the video presentation whatsoever.

I've been to the north.  *Many* times.  During the several thousand hours that I've played this game, I've made the trip more times than I could possibly remember.  I have several private hive toons that do nothing but survival type stuff 'in the north'.   It's silly to promote 'the north' in a dev build like this; the game isn't complete in any sense.  Additionally, people will do what they want.  It's totally unnecessary to ruin your video with advertising.  That's my opinion.  If you want to run around 'the north' then that's just great, have fun.  My previous comment was only to critique the video, not encourage/discourage playstyles.

Also, 'hardly worked on' doesn't mean what you think it means.

1) Nowhere did he try to "convince" anyone of "what is fun and better."

Uh, what?  Check the title and watch the first minute of the video again.

It better to be constructive than come across as a bit of a bellend.

I *was* being constructive. When anybody, since the beginning of forever, makes a product for a viewing audience they automatically open the door to criticism and review. This has been happening since the dawn of widespread media. I thought the video was ruined by advertising as I explained above.

Note that the people who said "I like it" offered little to nothing in the way of why they liked it, how it could have been further improved, or anything helpful. Not constructive at all. Being constructive isn't always telling someone that the video was good.

Awesome video as always. Is that Breaks71 at the end with you in NWAF?

Edit: It is Break. I remember watching his stream when you made contact and I was sure your voice sounded familiar. GG, you two should team up lol.

Nice video man :beans:

You're a pretty lucky man I see. I'm always travelling far north and last days I met only two men though they were trying to kill me.

He no more tried to "convince you" to change your mind than a delicious steak tries to convince you to eat it.

Keep saying that and eventually you'll believe it!

thank You everyone for all the positive opinions and those not too positive aswell. This is a forum, right? Discussion is really much apreciated. Maybe I tried a bit to convince people in this vide to go north but it's not like I told You that You have to. It's just the map... Like I said before, there is a reason why it's sooo big! It's mostly for people who have been up north 2 or 3 times, havent seen anyone and went back to the coast for a deathmatch and doing it all the time till not. Patience... try something different and see if it's worth. If not then start doing what You did before.

Great video! Both entertaining and thoughtful.

I salute you for beeing so trusting when handling other players, gentle but cautious, a great judge of character perhaps?

Inspired by this video I've been roaming the northwestern part of the map for some time now and had some extraordinary encounters. All my past adventures inland has been revolving around group PvP at NWAF and the military bases. A thrill for sure but with superior loot being the only driving factor. I now travel light and lone with my Blaze and marksmanship as sole comfort for the same reasons you mention but with a more sinister purpose.

Robbing people inland is the same as robbing people on the coast :) Personally, I enjoy moving around the map but I have noticed that we get attacked everywhere now. In the old days, most encounters up north were friendly. Many of my earlier videos were mostly that. I've met people in north-west (3 in one day) and others without a shot being fired. I used to give away loaded weapons often, even M4s.

When I am alone or with two similar friends, we rarely shoot first and never rob people. Last week, we met someone at the 'secret' military base. He was obviously new and so we took him on a tour of the map, changing trucks a few times. He had lots of firsts that night including traveling in and driving a truck. When I am with a big group, it means you always get shot at by others but nevertheless I enjoy those fights too.

If you run around with a weapon out anywhere, I think you invite attack. I would not have let you rob me and one of us would have died. My preference though is to break legs.

My main point is that there isn't a rule book. We play how we want, when we want. People shouldn't get butt hurt if we disagree, stay by the coast, camp, fight or hunt animals up north. It's up to you. One of my favourite nights was when I had a BBQ in Svet and several strangers stopped by to eat. We also ran several small holdings from the Elektro police station back yard. We had ten people on one occasion. Eventually, you always got shot at but it's great fun. That's what I love about DayZ, the variety. You can have as much fun anywhere on the map.
