Stable Branch - 0.57 Discussion

Maybe I am being to expectant that it should be more like the mod. I know in the mod 100 meters would trigger loot and Zombie spawn the current system is clunky and should be triggered instead of always existing and so should the zombies. make room for the dynamic events such as zombie Hordes, Vehicles, and helo crashes with zombie guards. the system was there in Arma 2 and should be there for DayZ as well but it seems they left out the triggers from this game.

If they utilized triggers for loot and zombies you would see a huge Performance gain and not as much need for optimization. The triggers would handle the loot spawn as well as loot wipe once the Player(s) leaves the area. Maybe a 10-30 minute timer for loot and zombie wipe.

It would be great to have a world with static loot but when the server has to handle all the players, the loot, the zombies, loot and zombie spawn Maybe the headless client that is available for Arma 3 could be a welcome addition as well.

This is exactly what they are going FROM to make a more immersive world which is more like the real world and not a constantly spawning computer game. I don't know how you could've missed that with all the talk about CLE and persistance.

Performance is not a priority now. It will most likely be addressed later so no need to go backwards to increase it.

I would say their thought process is flawed why screw up the game that blew Arma 2 off the shelves to appease a few elitist 15 year old turds?  Persistance is one of the biggest problems Unless they make it so the Helo crashes get wiped off the map for server resets and the tents and vehicles can stay persistant there is no reason to play the game longer than a few hours. I have been playing Breaking Point on Arma 3 and their Helo crashes are awesome the helo actually flies over and crashes somewhere for you to track down not just random piles of wreckage somewhere on the map. If you want Realism Arma 3 Breaking point is already on its way to being better.

In .58 heli crashes and dynamic police cars despawn and respawn somewhere else every 4 hours regardless of the 12 hour restarts and trucks, tents, barrels, and their contents are persistent.

I think you are missing the whole point of why they are bothering with persistance. You should look into what the devs actually want to accomplish and not what is right now. This is just alpha, nothing is set, while breakijng point is a mod built upon an already finished game, they are not comparable. I have actually looked at Breaking point since I also play Arma3 but its too much of a military sim than a survivalist game. It looks fun though, don't get me wrong, Its just not Dayz.

It may be that the new zombie spawning uses this, but I think the items aren't spawned in based on player movement in order to deter server hopping and make loot more unpredictable. They haven't been using zeds on exp which leads me to believe they don't plan on using their current form much longer.

It'd be great to have certain areas (cities, airfields) spawn more zeds and hordes from gunfire, finally making hold-outs a thing.

So, what is going on? 0.58 still not pushed to stable. Why is it taking so long?

I haven't noticed anything impressive in the changelog so far, so why the delay?
