Loot distribution. :)

Recommended Posts

Hello :)!

The DayZ dev team is currently (0.55 - 0.56/0.57) working on the loot system being well optimised, That led to an interesting bug.

In front of the little ramp/post house that was unenterable until the latest patch, is now a loot bug, on every server.

A lot of loot can be found in front of every one of these buildings which is found in almost every city, and in bigger cities there are more than 1.

To get to the point, I feel that loot SHOULD be centralized, Me and my friend were playing and even though it was bugged it wasnt OP, but it was a small goal, that gave us a lot of satisfaction once we found it.

What Im saying is that boosts of moral and fun are very important. Players need to know where good loot is, It happens to often that we go to the NWAF and find bad loot.

People need to have set goals and have a reward at the end of the travel.

Many DayZ plays have ended with us just quiting the game because we ran for 50 minutes to the air field and found a pistol that some one left behind.

There is a problem with server jumping, but that is for another topic :)

My play time 500h+  :)

Your boost of fun and moral in the form of loot will impact other players. The more loot you get, the greater the chance that others could suffer for it later on. You can't weigh a single player's happiness as a game mechanic.

That's because people get the idea in their heads that they are owed precious goodies by the game because they walked someplace. If you quit the game because you wanted something to spawn somewhere and you feel so strongly that you're owed an item that you quit when it's not there...

...well, maybe that's not so much an issue with the game as much as it is an issue with people fabricating unrealistic expectations.

This. ALL of the this.

You aren't "owed" anything in this game. So, you ran for 50 minutes (Which I doubt. I've run from corner to corner before in 30 minutes) to get to an airfield, only to find that it has been looted before you?

Too bad, so sad.

Guess what? Military bases are some of the most heavily looted areas on the map. Literally every thread complaining about loot starts with "SO I ran to Vybor/NWAF/Balota, and I DIDN'T GET ANYTHING  :(  :(  :(  :( "

Literally everybody and their mother is zooming to the military bases after a server restart, like flies to fresh shit. Either get there first (by server hopping, which makes you a scrublet and scum in my book), or content yourself with the PLETHORA of other firearms that can be found in almost every other major building across the map. Just because you "worked" to get to the airbase (Hint: I don't really consider 'holding down the W key' working, really) doesn't mean a gun will magically pop from the ground when you get there.

Play smart. Learn where other firearms spawn, go kill other players and take theirs, or get all butthurt and leave. Doesn't really matter to me.

I dont think you understand.

Feel free to play the role of the hardcore survivor, but I dont like it when people complain too. This was not a complaint post! I said that You just run somewhere (NWAF, Military bases ect... and find nothing)

This was on the Suggestions. I suggest if they want a fun game, a game that people want to play for a long time, they need to fix how loot works,

If you have played the game for a decent time (I have played it for 500h) you will know that loot piles dont dissapear, people come, get stuff and leave stuff behind!

I still play the game, and will play it in the future. I am talking about game functionality. A game has to have small satisfactions from time to time to be fun!

They are currently trying to make it so that all the houses have loot, and thats fine, but normal houses should have shit loot, and Bigger buildings (Which are rare) should have great stuff so that when you arrive you feel like you have accomplished something! :)

Pls do debate on the topic. I like hearing what people think! :D

The game owes me nothing, its a game. And a game should be fun! And I think this game is fun, but it could be even more fun! :)

No, that is practically 100% the opposite of what the developers are trying to do.

They don't want certain buildings to be known as "gun houses", like in your example above, because what will occur (and did) is the players will completely ignore the smaller houses to run to the "bigger" buildings, where "great stuff" spawns.

The devs don't want that. And neither do I. Sorry.

As for how loot is spawning now, Alpha, and all of its related bugs. Get over it.

Exactly, I agree about learning the other spawns, the only thing I dont agree on is that, you shouldnt HAVE to kill players. It should be a choice of game style. Currently with how the loot works you pretty much have to kill.

I think that shit but cool loot would be very good on hotspots (Cities, bases, airfields ect..) If I get to a remote part of the map, I should at least get some camo clothes, non functioning guns... Just something like a pat on the back for playing the game (thats why achievements exist :) )

I know thats why Im posting, if it was a finished game I wouldnt bother posting! :)

And for the loot centers, I understand they dont want that, but that is a way of people knowing where to go if they want a fight, and those who dont want to fight can just go around collecting food and making camps, while using hunting guns and bows :)

NO

You are not understanding the central point, here.

No matter where you go, no matter what you do, you are not owed ANYTHING. You might be more likely to find a certain type of gear (and I find even that a bit of a stretch), but no certain items in certain places

Why do you "have" to kill players to get loot? I am playing experimental right now, which has less loot than the stable branch, and I don't need to kill anyone to get what I need. Food from plants and animals, clothing from animals, weapons from plants (the bow), and I have a rifle with ammo for backup.

Decent places to camp out atm. Also I believe it's enterable in experimental.

I think I already said this! ITS GAME IT OWES ME NOTHING, it just has to be fun. And for the "no certain items in certain places" Fuck that if I go to a military base I dont expect to find fucking fishing gear!

Yea thats the whole point. If you want to survive in the woods you can.

I dont like to do that, because I want to get the high end loot, in that case I HAVE to kill. Im okay with that, but I still think even the guys who like to play passively should be able to get high end gear after some time.

With the current implementation that's actually the case as loot can respawn after being picked up. However people misunderstand the reward aspect. You are mainly rewarded for staying alive (and taking some calculated risks) and not for simply getting to a certain place.

There's the point you want the high end lootw. DayZ is on its way to a point, where having high end loot is rarely ever seen, with most people running around with pistols, if they actually have a gun. Your high end loot probably will more or was disappear.
