Is it dead?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I'm about as new to the game as you can get (haven't even installed it yet), but before I get going, I wanted to know...is the DayZ mod dead? Do a significant amount of people still play? From what I've seen, it looks like a lot of people have moved over to standalone and Arma 3. Any comments people would be appreciated.

Nope still thousands of players on the mod - if you do re-install the game use Dayzlauncher not commander, commander isnt supported anymore and is buggy

Great, thanks! I'll probably be starting up soon. Does anyone have a link to a good absolute beginner's guide?

Dayz mod is far from dead however some of the sub mods are a different story lol. It will always be better than standalone imo.

Vanilla DayZ can be quite full at times on servers such as US 434 that I have a hard time getting in. It's a great experience. Especially when you encounter friendly people that you haven't met and team up with.

Europa is also so full that it's hard to get a space a lot of the time.

How do you tell a "vanilla" DayZ server from other ones?  Is the leftmost icon (green, red, yellow with a key) in the server list?

Hi guys, I'm new on the game too. Because of the price reduction on steam, I buy Arma 2 and I had installed DayZ. Indeed, the game is still active and it's great because he is the best survivor game ever . If anyone want me in his team, just tell me. Dayz mod is not dead

Sniper, the best way to play is to encounter people in a genuine manner while playing, then maybe getting on teamspeak with them later. Not knowing if the guy you're about to go save from 10 zombies cornering him is friendly or will turn on you is great fun.

No mod is alive and well. At some point the A3 version may take over but in reality it's still being built as people play. Because of this it updates frequently and the servers get wiped so progress is lost. This turns a lot of people off playing the A3 version. Standalone is in development with years now so maybe... If it ever gets finished.

Personally I prefer the A2 mod. Also it provides a variety of mods I currently play Overpoch and our regular server sees maximum capacity every night ( DeadCellGaming 65 player slots) but with so many different versions which all add something to the game it has that bit more to keep people interested. Was going to link my player guide but you have already seen it. Thank you for the beans

LOL, it's been about 7 months since I've played and vanilla is alive and well - at least PvP is. Got shot dead by a player while doing the friendly dance inside the hospital tent in the Balota airstrip. I'm sure he took all the gear off my corpse, though all I had was an empty shotgun I took off a dead body. Hmmm, maybe it was HIS dead body and he killed me to get his shotgun back. Well, he could of asked for it back instead of killing me...

I play daily, and the best way to play is just however you want to play it. As to sniping, well that's just one way though I would never snipe anyone other than AI.

I play as a survivor, which can be hard with the mods because you think you're doing great, you've survived four months and suddenly the server changes to another mod and your survival is gone! Argh!

Got to love DayZ.

US434 is pretty dependable, I doubt it'd change to a different mod. It's dedicated to vanilla. I have fun with it. I'm a survivor myself and have intentions of a hero.

The mod is still pretty fun. I still play it just about whenever I can.
