What about Russian Spam?

Why there is no Russian Spam in game?

One of the most common canned food in Russia!

Very cheap (and so very common), nutritious, maybe a bit dangerous for your health, but who cares!? It's cheap and really good at satisfying hunger! It was super popular among common people in post-soviet period (90-2000x)!

Retro:

I think this food will fit in the game perfectly. Should restore a large amount of energy and some water with small chance of dysentery (no joking).

As long as we can grill and fry the spam than im cool with it. Spam is quite tasty when you cook it.

Get it to a dark red, almost charred and it almost tastes better than bacon!

Actually yes, spam should be eadiable without any risk for health if grilled.

I love grilled Spam! Straight up, too, with nothing on it.

You can safely eat spam 'raw' (but why would you want to?)

No, you actually can't, unless you want to play a russian roulette.

be nice if eventually we could get a meat grinder once we get the base building stuff in and if we kill a cow actually grind the bastard up and can him for later it would be a good way to get up food stores and not have to worry about spoilage. hopefully we can pickle veggies too and make beer too.

Quickest answer? Because DayZ is not set in Russia.

Uh, no, SPAM is fully cooked as-is. Technically, ANY food that has been canned is "cooked".

It does, however, taste like ass when not "cooked", as that layer of fat doesn't coat the meat otherwise.

I use SPAM as a "survival food" all the time. It is GREAT if you think outside the box with it.

Can't we have Chenarussian Spork or Speef then? (please gods no Sphicken)

No, you actually can't, unless you want to play a russian roulette.

The canning process cooks whatever's in the can to kill off bacteria as well as seal the can.  It's the reason a can of peaches wont turn into schnapps or liquid death after a couple years and most canned green veggies look a sickly brown when opened.  In fact I think they found canned goods from the Napoleonic wars that was still edible.

Chernorussia ~ Byelorussia != russia. We know that ok. Still pretty much russia. Cyrilic everywhere, traditional russian buildings everywhere, etc.

And then we suggest russian spam - a food which was not only popular in russia, but also across all of post-soviet space, and you go "hurr durr not russia". Your quickest answer is not very well-thought, isn't it?

Sorry mate but I never seen Russian canned spam before. Canned stew and condensed milk was in every house or army storage though.

I am extremely curious as to how it tastes in comparison to western spam.

Western Spam pan fried with butter is quite good.

It's better to think inside the bin with it.

I wouldn't feed that shit to my dog.

SPAM is pretty good (so long as you heat it up) and has more recognizable ingredients than your standard hot dogs.

Literally just ground pork shoulder, ham, salt, water, potato starch, and sodium nitrate.

I am willing to bet that most people's problem with SPAM comes from when they were served it improperly cooked. Eaten cold/not hot enough, it does indeed taste like ass.

However, throw it on a skillet and let the outside caramelize? Delicious.
