Game Randomly Minimizes, But Can't Get Back?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I played around 300 hours 6 months ago and then quit, mostly because I was having an issue where my game was basically crashing. Tried reinstalling and still had issues.

Now I come back to play again and it is even worse. After maybe 5-10 minutes this occurs.

What happens is my game sort of minimizes. But I can still hear the sounds and still move my player, as reported by my clan, however I can not get the game to come back up. I can alt tab through and still nothing. Clicking does nothing. All I can do is end the process and start over.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Keep taskman open and right click it from the application tab to maximize?

I run windowed across three TVs and my taskbar randomly jumps to my middle screen blocking my view of my quickslotted items. I have to tab the game into inventory, use my pointer to drag the bar back to the right screen (twice) which minimizes my game. Then I have to use taskman to maximize the game.

Don't know what you mean by taskman. But there is no way to bring the game back up I have tried everything. I need to fix the problem not tape it together lol

Windows task manager is taskman. If you don't know what taskman is you haven't tried everything or your on a mac or windows 8? If you're on windows vista or 7 hit ctrl+alt+delete, open task manager, right click it on the task bar and pin it while you're at it for next time, right click DayZ in the application tab and you'll have an option to maximize it.

What graphics card are you using? I had the same issue on a GTX 580. Was due to overheating as it was outdated.

GTX 560 TI

I've never seen the word taskman anywhere on my windows 7. It says task manager. And yes like I said there is no way to maximize it. It is like the game half crashed. Only the video portion.

Yup, I feel confident in saying the issue lies within your graphics card. The long term fix would be to upgrade you GPU, but I understand not everyone can shell out money whenever they please.

So I would try playing with your graphics settings. Turn them down & make things less intensive on your GPU. Maybe try cleaning your GPU the best that you can as well.

I'm not too keen on what graphical settings are more intensive than others, but I've read that shadows & clouds can do a number on performance. I would try putting both shadows & clouds on 'low' for starters then work from there.

You can poke around in troubleshooting as well, you'll find plenty of information there. Use the search function.  ;)

Ultimately, it's your GPU. So at least you know which component to address.
