Some of the major gameplay differences you'd notice within the first hour:

Mod:

- Lots of variations of the mod, possible difficulty finding the right server.

- 90% of buildings can't be entered. (Depends on the specific mod, I guess. All of these apply to the original DayZ Mod.)

- Loot spawns in random piles around buildings.

- Very clunky inventory, lots of clicking, no drag-n-drop.

- Lots of guns and ammo types.

- Can't punch.

- Clothing is rare to find, can only find full outfits.

- There is no actual melee system in ARMA. Weapons like the axe, crowbar, and machete are actually guns that fire a bullet. They just look like melee weapons and the firing animation/sound is a swing.

Standalone:

- All servers are available.

- Every building has interiors.

- Loot spawns in realistic places, sometimes easy to miss.

- Much better inventory, can drag-n-drop, containers are easier to understand.

- You have a hotbar for quick access to any item you choose.

- Most weapons are melee, guns relatively rare.

- Can punch!

- Individual pieces of clothing, very common.

- Real melee combat! Hit detection is based on the model of whatever you're holding when you swing.

Hey buddy Thanks for getting back with me, you know you i was thinking the exact samething,
about the mod version servers its so hard to find the right server, i appreciate you taking the time
to help me my friend, looks like i may just wait and buy the standalone version, or may just take
the chance and purchase the game, i mean come on now! I purchased ArmA III the first thing
i heard this game was on steam, and went through the whole beta game without nothing to do.

Usually i get tired and frustrated, trying to find the right server hmmm so i just may get the standalone
version someday, i've went to youtube and just about everywhere and like what i see so far.. but i know
that i am playing over Bohemia's work that not 100% completed.
