Game is in alpha and it's not optimized and is in the midst of switching to a new renderer.

Please use search function next time too.

I think he is wondering why it runs just fine on high settings.  I also messed with the setting and such, as many forums and youtubers instructed.  It was all bullstuff, turned everything up to highest settings and never been happier with it.  I'm on a three year old pc with a AMD Phenom II 6 core 3.3GHz and  GTX560, so it's not like I have a primo setup.  It looks much better for me on high settings, than it does on all the various recommended settings.

I also have an antique Phenom II 6-core machine, but with a GTX470. Even with conservative video settings, I get shit for FPS, just like everyone else. I recently picked up a GTX780 and popped it into the Phenom II box for a burn-in. I was stunned to see that my FPS was pretty much unchanged. The only difference was that I could now ramp up all of the graphics settings and make the game look pretty.

I ultimately put the GTX780 into an i7 machine. That monster i7 CPU kicks DayZ's ass and the GTX780 ensures that everything looks good. Contrary to popular opinion, the game does look good, if you have a suitable GPU. The problem is that a heavy duty GPU does absolutely nothing for the frame rate.

Yup framerate still crappy.  I wil upgrade to a GTX 7xx or 9xx card, and SSD before going to an intel setup.  Hopefully the eventual optimization will make the framerate improve, as I think the recommended equipment standard has been met.

The game isn't optimized (at all) because it is in Alpha and they're in the process of re-constructing parts of the engine. Don't get too ahead of yourself trying to build a PC to play this game specifically because it will change considerably back and forth until beta or full release.

i have tried almost all fps boosts out there and they do work, i stopped in the wild and adjusted every setting one at a time, monitoring my fps with steams fps counter, i seen 5fps+ boost when turning aa/alpha coverage off regarding textures like object clouds i seen very lil change from high to low settings, but did see 3-4 fps boost changing shadows from vhigh to v low, BUT no matter what you do cities are never effected, you will never experience fps change in cities changing these settings, with my custom settings i got 24-30fps in cherno, i then turned everything up to highest and guess what, 24-30 fps in cherno, im now confident in saying this as i have tried everything...all these tweaks, launch parameters will do nothing for you in cities im afraid. Hoping this new engine or rendering will improve fps in cities, i have read it will support dx11 now i dont really know what this means for fps but hoping its a good thing!:)

I would recommend the 9xx series. I just built a gaming machine with a GTX970, which replaced a machine with a GTX570. After an hour, or two, the 570 would make the room hot and stuffy. In contrast, the 970 doesn't put out nearly as much heat and the room is much more comfortable. Also, the 970 seems to be at least a powerful as my GTX780, but for a lot less money. What's not to like?
