Silencers that dont attract zombies.

This would be a good addition to the game that the silencers in fact aren't heard server wide, and all the zombies are rushing to a zip sound of the AUG.

Suppressors don't silence a weapon.  They just quiet it enough so that it's hard to tell where the weapon was fired from.  "Silenced" weapons are still loud enough to be noticed by brainless hunters.

Even the sound of an axe swinging and smacking against one of their fellow zeds heads can be heard by these muthas.

A suppressed firearm should still aggro, cos it still makes some noise, but should have a smaller area of sound it gives off. Might be silent at over 50m ?

The ccosd and m9sd in the mod were completely silent to zeds....would like it to at least attract them at close range but 50m seems a lot. That was the audio footprint of an mp5 in the mod, so maybe 25m, then your pretty safe its more if a zombie is around the corner or something an you haven't seen him :)

at 100m I would be fine but at 1000m? 500-1000m seems a tad harsh. I know its very difficult to program AI that is behind a building to know the difference.

 

Its the knowing factor where the sound came from. If I dropped you at 100m, your buddy still was wondering where the shot came from unless he see's me.

 

at 1000m back turned, your buddy doesn't have a clue. So why is it attracting zombies at 1000m

 

If you don't believe me go test it. Watch the flow of zombies know exactly where you are in the building. Again the AI thing is very difficult to program.

 

Edit=Oh and wait long enough in the room, to where another zombie comes after you cleared up the zombies. The echo must be loud and persistent.

I should have not quoted you but reply to the whole thread. I am sorry, I meant it in the long range issues with silencers.

It is the realistic factor that I suggest we have a silencer that doesn't effect the whole town.

 

I want the zombies to turn around look like the walking dead movie... and say I am going to eat Sneakydude's bones.

Yes to that. 25m would prolly be about right, but this is dayz after all ;) you could hear a door shut on a landrover in the mod from about 200m hehehe

I'm sure it will be like you say when it's sorted out, must still be in early dayz at the moment. In the next tweak they do you won't even be able to hear it yourself. Then after that they'll tweak some more and it might be about right - it's the DayZ rule of patches ;)

Should give us all more to do, and watch all the nekkid players all run around like noobs!

Yeah, so they should at least not immediately know where you are and come running towards the exact spot.

I've noticed that zombies can hear me from practically completly across town with a suppressor on and I know they should be able to hear the direction but they can literally come find me even if I fire and go inside a building while out of sight. This needs to be worked on some what, send them in the direction and when thy get say 300m from their starting location the stop turn a random direction and look for 2-3 seconds looking for a target, if none is found they continue to run in said direction they were runing maybe one or 2 times and stop and look for something to attack/eat again. after a 3d time they give up and wonder for a minute before becoming dormant again waiting for something else.
