A small christmas gift: 20 Survival tips

Hello Community, a little early Christmas gift from me:

 

Thought I'd share some tips that might be of use for some of you.

 

1. If you lean left or right in third person while slowly zooming out,

you can in most places see behind barricades, like walls. You basically

get a wider view of the surroundings

 

2. In prone position you can easier get through small gaps, like some door frames,

that would otherwise be hard to get through.

 

3. If you break your leg, you can still crouch or stand while shooting, if you

remain stationary. You can also walk up and down stairs when starting in

prone position.

 

4. You can drive underwater.

 

5. You can herd animals very easily by moving to the opposite position to where you want them gathered.

 

6. Zombies cannot go through metal gates, so you can easily get rid of them this way.

The top door in the police station is also a nice place to get rid of zombies or get killed.

 

7. If you wait in one of the many bus stops in Dayz, you might get a lift.

 

8. There is a higher chance of getting more food out of different containers

if they are on the ground and not in your inventory. Only if you don't have the

can opener.

 

9. Look for places where there is a wider pattern of rain drops, and you will not

get wet. As an example: Some trees will give you good protection, while others will not.

 

10. There is almost a 100% chance of getting an axe or other melee weapon in one of the open/closed

sheds scattered around every village/city.

 

11. The car scrap yards in Dayz is a very good place for finding clothes. food, containers and weapons.

Trains also have a lot of loot in them and are mostly ignored by players.

 

12. If you need autorun, wedge a coin between the key you use for running.

 

13. There are unlimited apples, berries, chicken feathers from the source you

are harvesting from. You just need to wait a little before you strike gold again.

 

14. You can examine your compass from the inventory. No need for using

the action bar.

 

15. Never EVER use any types of backpacks with the exception of Child Breifcase

and the improvised backpacks, if you don't want to be spotted quickly that is.

 

16. Make a safe zone around your character. If any person you don't trust

enters it, you can use deadly force. Makes it easier for you to figure out just

when you feel uncomfortable.

 

17. Zombies will attack what is closest to them, so if you spot another player

and run past them, the zombie should start attacking them. You can even

gather up a horde of them, run inside a building with an enemy and unleash

HELL!

 

18. If you get shot and even if you did not, you can fake bandage by canceling

your bandaging. Some people will react instantly to the sound of someone bandaging

thinking it will be an easy kill.

 

19. If you have two or more people after you, find a narrow place where there are no

way to circle around and lure them in.

Big thanks for sharing the game tracker link!! Simply put, using the in-game server browser make me want to pull the hair I no longer have so this should be very helpful.  :beans:

There is no problem in using one, but if you want to not be spotted to easily, you might want

to get a type that is smaller in size.  Hell, if you want to go hardcore, you don't really need any

backpack at all.

 Another helpful hint if you don't have a coin. I use the pointy part of a pen cap lid. Works well and it's a bit bigger so if you come across someone you aren't scrambling to grab the coin to stop your run.

Right now it's a clever use of game mechanics and not really an exploit at all. All you are doing

is using the third person mode to it's limits, just like how you can lean left or right behind cover

and at the same time see beyond that cover.

 

Pen cap lid is a nice tip, maybe even better for laptops:)
