Not Losing My Backpack

Recommended Posts

Before I start I just want to say, wow. What an amazing game and development team for helping making this dream a reality.

Now For The Issue

Currently, this is my character in DayZ Standalone:

And THIS Is What I Fell In Love With:

Anyways, it is more than possible to be a hardened combat ready military survivor one second, and pull a few things out of your backpack, and become a ghost. Someone that no matter how scared you get, how much you believe you can kill them, that you will NEVER find them. I'm not worried about "storage space" or anything like that for the upcoming improvised ghillie suits, but you cant wear them when you have on a backpack, no problem, ill just sit in this field for 3 hours, or so, with my BACKPACK ON THE GROUND, its all good until your server restarts.. you see, when a server is in the midst of restarting, you cant pick up items, imagine, your sitting in a field with a sniper and a ghillie suit with your backpack full of all your food and most of your supplies, "its fine ill just pick it up when I'm ready" but when your aiming down that scope and the server is restarting, you go to pickup your backpack and you find that you simply cant. And to sit there and watch your belongings, knowing that in another 60 seconds, you will never see it again, that feeling sucks.

I'm just wondering if there is going to be a way past this issue, besides knowing when the server your on is going to restart.

Persistence from what I hear, is still quite buggy, and that "some of my items wont be in my backpack" after the server restart. And how will I know if a server is persistent if it doesn't say? there has to be a curtain way to find out besides dropping an item waiting for a server restart. So yes, besides persistence.

On a persistent server your backpack will still be there after the restart. problem solved.

What a dramatic thread title for such a simple question...

I did that on purpose. How else are people going to read it to solve my little problem?

I read it, because of your title, but don't want to help, because of your title. (That and I have nothing to contribute to this thread. It's 3:00 AM >.>)

When I go out looking to kill, I ditch my backpack.  What do you need it for when you are dead?  If you are looking like that, I imagine you are looking to kill, right?  Kiss the backpack goodbye.

Perhaps a more relevant topic title to your threads would get you the answers you desire, plus it is common sense.
