Cannibals Recognition Suggestion

Recommended Posts

personally, once brain disease is properly balanced I think that will be plenty in terms of visual and audio cues for cannibilism. I do not mean to get too philosophical, but human beings are only animals, and history has shown that under the right circumstances we are all willing to eat our own species, and while it is certainly traumatizing for many, it does not turn people into blood covered savages. I understand that this is a game and not real life, but what makes this game so freaking good is that it understands that human morality is only a construct, and as a result the game does not punish players for exploring all realms of the human condition, good, evil, and everything in between. This is what makes the bonds and betrayals of human interaction in dayz so captivating. To force players into the oversimplified tropes of hero, bandit, cannibal, etc would be an insult to the density of the DayZ experience. You may not realize while playing, but what DayZ is accomplishing is some super dense observations on the human psyche.

We need a chance of brain disease even is you cook the meat (Maybe it could be like 35% to get brain disease with uncooked meat 20% cooked). Otherwise it's just another reason to kill humans, and without any direct consequences.

Good idea.. all the nay sayers of the blood on clothes dig this and dig it good... they could make it so you have to wash your clothes in a pond etc after you carve up a dead body to wash the blood off the clothes... just a little extra precautionary measure after you carve up the dead body..

I think a some blood spatter would be good- but it should be related to ALL gutting and mele combat- not just humans. Realisticly bashing a deer/pig/possibly a zombie's face in with blunt-force trauma would make a bloody mess. it would be a clue the someone all bloodied was likely in recent combat- but not imediately tell you the nature of that combat

mh, difficult topic.

I understand that a player is now for some "just another source of meat".

The problem is, that implementing mental changes like madness would interfere with roleplaying.

What I would find interesting is, when your condition would define how much meat you are giving (for example someone healthy => stuffed 4 steaks; someone starving => none). this would maybe at least give roleplayers something they can play with and not directly kill every player they see just cause of cannibalism.

personally I´m against showing other persons personality/actions on their outside, it prevents a plottwist. and just leads to "red mouth => KoS", while in the real life cannibals live unrecognised.

So the general consensus is blood spatter [if you get into a close zombie/edged weapons fight] that you can wash off, and brain disease that leads to twitching and giggling, are the best suggestion we have for the DayZ team?

I think it could be really cool.
>do simple detective work: a mutilated human corpse in the area, a guy standing next to him covered in blood holding an axe, hmmmm I wonder what might have occurred here
>Encourage murderers to wash up afterward, adding to realism
>Provides adequate condemnation of, and risk to, eating human meat, making it more like IRL where people would be more likely to hesitate before chowing on their chums

I don't want to go too far down the suggestions rabbit hole, but perhaps we could have human/animal blood spatter attract zombies via smell within 20 metres or so?
