Thoughts on the new .50 Update...

Recommended Posts

APC wrecks seem to be spawning useful loot. I found quality military clothes, makarov mags and an SKS at one last night. Others had some useful loot as well. I don't recall such spawns happening with such frequency in the past. Also I'm not sure if it's a bug or just extreme good luck but every piece of clothing I found was pristine.

I love the cowboy repeater! I just need to find some .357 ammo for it. I also found a Mosin speed loader, are those new? It was a treat to be able to reload the mosin without hitting TAB.

My hydration level was GREEN hombre and Drinking water doesn't cool you off directly it simply replaces water lost through perspiration and prevents the onset of heat injuries such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke by restarting the perspiration process. Limiting your exertions, removing clothing, moving to the shade and in extreme cases wetting the skin with water and even getting a saline bag are the correct actions. But that's real life

I use water purification tablets (That AFAIK actually do nothing at this point) to get used to purifying water from ponds and streams just as I do in RL. Sooner or later  those that are unprepared will be getting the shits and intestinal dysentery from drinking contaminated water. One should assume that all water not coming from a bottle is bad or will eventually be bad.

YESSSSS

Animals.

How about instead of a Welding mask we get Animals that Aggro under certain situations.

1st Deer...there should be Bucks, Does and Fawns and the Bucks during rutting season should aggro on you if you get too close to their Does (getting impaled and trampled by a Bucks horns and feet should hurt)

2nd Hogs.. there should be Boar, Sows, and piglets when cornered or approached too closely the Bore and Sows should aggro on you and the piglets should scatter. (piglets are tasty morsels)

3rd Bows, and Guns  hitting a Deer or Hog in the butt or gut should not kill it instantly. Lung Heart and Head shots should be instant kills.

4th Where in the hell are those aggressive Russian brown bears?

5th Where in the Hell are those wild dog and wolf packs?

I know some of these items are planned but when will implementation be made?

Screw more military style weapons how about a scope for the CZ527 and a good scoped bolt action hunting rifle in 7.62 x 54r or .308 win?

The Derringer....useless!

The Welding mask...useless

Beans?  :beans:

In real life, without proper (and prompt) medical attention, if you get gored/trampled/bit by a wild animal, chances are you are dead. As soon as the intestinal wall is broken, you might as well kiss your ass goodbye without "real" (not your friend giving you oral antibiotics) medical attention.

Such as it should be in-game. A pack of wolves should be something to be feared, not laughed at. A rutting buck coming at you, balls out, would be terrifying.

A decent reminder that, without our (continually supported) technology, humans actually have to fight to be at the top of the food chain. We won our place up at the top 40,000 years ago (with the invention of the bow, coincidentally), and we've been coasting by ever since.

I actually really like the animal aggression idea. Would keep lone wolves/hunters like me on our toes.

Along with alternately dying of hypo- or hyperthermia, and keeping our boots together with duct tape of course.

Mookie, Nothing is better than living off the fat of the land.  I the and other loners once equipped have little need to venture into military bases and cities to loot because we subsist on Hog, Deer, and Cow Steaks plus, picked Apples and Berries although I do keep a small reserve of canned peaches & Kvass  on hand as a restorative for when I get wounded. I haven't tried fishing because I wont sacrifice my Axe for a crappy stick.

Handline%20fishing%20reel%20and%20line.j0006913_e-tool-case_300.jpeg

For fishing I would like a 1 slot hand line and a 2 slot E-Tool. Additionally I would like the ability to place a couple of hand lines and then depart for a spell to over-watch my fishing spot from an ambush position and kill any human pretenders to my throne :P

And it has just occurred to me that we should have some of these around to make a little trouble for us

Honestly someone that hasn't had his/her camp raided by these guys hasn't lived

Have a good hunt Mookie and some beans?  :beans:

100% correct man and i guess it must be mentioned that a slew of people used to die as a result of an of an abscessed tooth and  minor puncture wounds that abscess.  those pliers that at this point are useless may have a real function as do the antibiotics

The loot explosions from experimental still happen, I got one on the whole north end of NW airfield today, everything from the last two hangers north. it was kind of sick.

The heating up when you run is cool....I got wet from sweating just by keeping the water going as I ran.

Have no idea what rounds the derringer takes.

changing weapons when a Z is near seems to be very flaky now.  Best to just carry the 45 out all the time.

very hard to tell where an agro is from the sound.

I was under the impression Chernarus was an ex-USSR country. Racoons are north-american mammals, even if small populations could be find in continental and eastern europe (introduced by accident or by design). Before introducing something so american-centric, why not working on eurasian wolves and/or brown bears? Players encroaching/travelling in the wilderness should have to fear something, too. Urbanized areas have infected NPCs and players: wild areas should have their own predators, too.

Doc,  You didn't read my entire post. I mentioned Brown Bears, Wolves, as well as Wild Dogs (that are in fact a plague in Russia) and after doing a little research I discovered that significant populations of Raccoons that sprang from individuals released in Germany and Western Russia and a number of other countries in the early to mid 20th century exist. In Germany for instance steps to eradicate Raccoons are being considered and being promoted by environmentalists and hunters.  And then there are European Red Foxs and Rats that abound and let us not leave out European badgers that are found all across Europe and Western Russia.

I think that the Bears, Wolves and Wild Dogs I mentioned should provide a significant direct threat to humans and the smaller critters are vectors for Rabies and a number of other diseases.

I also want random groups of roaming Zombies to be working the forests all across Chernarus.

I think the wire is for rabbit snares

1) I have checked  5 wells and none of them are working (make sure you have some water purification tabs)

Can you boil water yet?

nvm

Hi people

I'm new here and seriously considering buying the Dayz SA. I've read some recent reviews, though, that really made me have second thoughts... problems with cheaters ruining the whole experience, bandits just camping around spawn areas, too buggy to be playable, etc. And the biggest problem of all: the slow progress of the game development (unkept promises, missed deadlines, 2 years in alpha stage, ...). This made me remember a game that actually had the exact same premise as this one (zombie infested wasteland, scavenging to survive) and was also relying on crowd funding to develop the game. This game is going nowhere, i think, and i fear the same thing will happen with Dayz. The other one is called 'ReRoll', maybe you've heard of it.

Should i be worried?

Actually, there are hundreds of thousands of very happy Survivors playing DayZ Standalone every day.

I think the problem is, you are reading the forums where a vocal minority are expressing dissatisfaction with a few issues here and there and it can seem like the problems are bigger and more impactful than they really are. The game is moving along well and the developers are committed to improving the game and adding content continually.

If you aren't sure about it, don't buy it yet. The game isn't going to disappear any time soon, so just wait until more updates are released and when you are sure you must have it, then buy it (but it will cost more later).

I'm going to wait :) been reading a lot and there appear to be more promising games like this one coming up, h1z1, 7 days to die, survive the nights, rust... I'm gona wait and see which one will eventually win the survival horror zombie game race :)

Having a ton of fun lighting up kambiwobo with green glow sticks and playing the xfiles theme while sprint around in a ghillie suit. Collecting human steak to drop around too. This town is going to be the beez kneez.
