-[KGC]- Take that step to the next generation of DayZ with 1.8.2!

Recommended Posts

WARNING NEXT GEN ZONE

__________________________________________________________________________

BEFORE READING ANY FURTHER BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING

__________________________________________________________________________

- The server will only be fitting for those hardcore players, this is not your usual "I quit because I lost my M107" type server.

- You will die, lose and lose even more. But if you manage to learn from your mistakes you might just rule the worlds of KKG's Hardcore Chernarus.

- NO As50's, Artillery, ACR's, Lapua's, Cheytec's -> THIS IS A REAL APOCALYPSE!

- Good luck finding and living through the night.

- Good luck finding a working car.

(You will need the luck, trust me.)

Now are you still ready to kick some zombie ass? Then read on.

Hello guys, I am here today to present to you the next stepping stone towards a great DayZ adventure, I just got done with the release of KKG's Hardcore server.

This server will be beyond any server so far, it will take DayZ back to the roots of:

- Adrenaline

- Loss of direction

- Zombies that are actually a problem

and much, much more of those feelings DayZ just got away from!

We hope you enjoy your stay and please leave any feedback since it has been released today (11.03.14; Month,Day,Year).

Best regards,

Blite

No it is walking dead, they walk but hurt you way more than usual zombies.

Crosshair is a very good point, I was planing on removing those :)

Thank you for the feedback and hope you have fun!

Currently I only have a changelog for the Overpoch server, I will consider making one for this one.

If I do I will inform you here!

Best regards,

Blite

so how do

"Zombies that are actually a problem"

and

"...they walk..."

fit together?

seriously is this a joke?

no offense man but wtf lol

i was expecting smth like faster zeds, more damage, less loot when i read hardcore. and hoping for 1st only...

and btw usual zombies dont hit you if you're not new to the game.

/rant over, sry for the whining, i got my hopes up for a real hardcore server...

It's alright, I totally understand what you mean.

Everyone has their opinion and should be allowed to share and defend it.

I can give you the reasons for the way things are though:

In my opinion making a hardcore server doesn't just mean making the zombies deadly to the point of mass destruction but rather bring some realism (depending on your view of an actual apocalypse) to the game. The walking zombies are (if you would give it a try) actually not as simple as you expect, most times you do easily escape, but make one mistake and you get overrunned quicker then you would think, after all if you do have bad luck your legs can easily be broken with a single hit and after that you are histoy.

The other factor that was making this "Hardcore" is the loot system. Readjusted and thanks to the new features of the DayZ Vanilla Devs. You need a lot of food and water and trust me we have test played it before, it is not as easy as you would expect, I almost guarantee you, before you say it isn't hardcore just play a couple hours and you will notice the life threatining situations...

After all I think you are looking at this a bit to narrow minded, the apocalypse isn't just made up of zombies but rather the new development of a collapsed society, vanishing food and drink supplies and medical problems (also very well made through updates (disinfecting wipes etc.)).

Like I mentioned above, crosshairs and such will be taken out and I apologize for not having done so.

The whole 3rd and 1st person was also thought through, but after all it's a game and we have noticed that sometimes it is just better to be able to use 3rd person due to the game based view issues you wouldn't have in real life (also the reason why 3rd person was put into the game in the first place), FrankieOnPcIn1080p (sorry if it was spellt wrong) also mentioned these aspects very nicely in his first DayZ video.

Anyhow, I hope you at least give it a try and look into further aspects of the game then just running and bugging zombies.

And don't take me wrong, thanks for the feedback!

Best regards,

Blite

thx for the long answer. i agree with most of your points.

but

1.

why make zeds easier if you want to make a hardcore server? vanilla is already easy: indoor zeds no problemo, outdoor zeds -> hide in bush. done. no taking hits while running. all zed fear comes from pvp alert.

2.

3rd pro: more freedom of view in reality, compensation for that ingame.

3rd con: look around corners, lay on rooftop all day, no risk vs. reward. (and that in a "military sim realistic hardcore anti-game" lol)

1st pro: way more intense gameplay, high risk vs. reward (he can see me if i peak around the corner)

1st con: its much harder than 3rd. probably fitting best for hardcore servers.

i like the readjusted loot system.

and me seeming narrow minded comes from the fact that i like the settings except for the zeds (+3rd) :)

anyhow, thx for your work. i will try the server again when it's up.

Just a heads-up - seems to be stuck on "creating" for the last 30 minutes or so (checked in /group and few other guys having same problem). DZ Commander and manual arma login with above IP same thing.

Cheers for the server and good work, following is intended purely constructively :) (Based on playing the server for a fair while - not sure how long but a fair few hours, had enough Dayz experience to know the "feel" of the server as it stands after that time :D)

- Walkers - as phL was getting at, thing is; most folk choosing to play a "hardcore" dayz server are likely to have above average experience/competency dealing with zeds. So whilst I absolutely agree supercharged walkers will catch out the unwary, your standard demographic of fairly experienced players will not have much trouble doing the supermarket aisle tango or ensuring multiple escape routes when scouting a barn. Have had no problem at all so far, either dodging or kiting 'em away long enough for me to loot. Guess its the age old "cant be all things to all people" :)

- Water/drinks - great, no probs there. Havent found water bottle in a while, drinks cans are sparse enough, I like it :) Although once you've got a tent/ab's, you can hop from water source to water source, but that's fine, tent/ab's rare enough.

- Food - cos its "pvp quiet" as the server's new, foraging supermarkets has been safe enough and have more food than I can shake a stick at. Also found it pretty quick to tool up with the axe/knife/matches survival combo. So only suggestion would be reduce food spawns if you want to put that on par with drink? Its definitely very skewed in favour of food atm, or at least has been my experience thus far.

- Fog - love the atmosphere and once the pvp kicks in will make it even more fun :) It's a bit "radial fog of war" though, feels a bit like a "slightly" clunky imposed visibility restriction which (while great) is done better by a few of the other fog scripts on armaholics. Can't remember their names, but there's a ground fog one you can customise height levels and change color value (sepia ground fog encouraging crawling is great :D) If I remember the name of the fog, Ill pm you.

As I say, please don't take the above negatively - you're the one putting the effort in and providing the server, so much appreciated! Just would like to see a community of real genuine hardcore survivalists coming together here and as wrong as I may be, I think the above might encourage that - my gut feeling is that you're trying to find folk who wince in pain when they see these "1000+ vehicles! Tanks! Jets! Experience the true zombie apocalypse!" servers :D

Gl with the server!

Love your post! Well done, I will look into the fog thing, maybe have a change between Day with ground fog and night with normal fog or the other way around, I just liked the whole idea of actually having to know the map much better in order to locate yourself... Which for me sometimes was actually a funny experience losing myself haha

Anyways, I will definately try to adjust the things I can also agree on myself and I will see what's wrong with the server!

Best regards,

Blite
