mooseinahoose 0 Posted November 1, 2014 (edited) Every time I try to launch dayz through dayz commander, no matter what server I try, it will go straight to the wait for hosting screen. Nothing will happen for about 5 minutes then it will say connection to host lost. But, it won't change from the wait for host screen unless I open task manager and close it. I bought this last week and need help kiddos.Edit: I played vanilla DayZ the day before I made this. I tried to verify the integrity of Arma 2OA and it failed to do so. Is that the problem? If so, how do I fix it? Edited November 1, 2014 by mooseinahoose

facoptere 180 Posted November 1, 2014 (edited) You didn't tell us what you did to install dayzmod, or even what mod you are trying to play. For dayzmod, the procedure is this one:Go to Steam, download and install ArmA 2 and ArmA 2 OA. Play each game at least once (it will setup the license keys).Go to Steam, download install "arma 2: dayz mod" game, it's free if you have both ArmA games. If you have already installed dayzmod via Steam, check the local game content of this game (right click with your mouse on the game > Properties > Local files > Verify integrity), Steam will automatically detect corrupted files and fix them. You can check also the integrity of both Arma2 games.Don't use Dayz launcher yet. Don't tweak any parameters via Steam UI.Launch Dayzmod with default parameters, connect to a vanilla dayz mod server: on the multiplayer screen (server list) you should find "dayzmod" in the mission name, and "1.8.2" in the server name If you can play vanilla dayzmod, but you want to play other mods of dayzmod, you can use dayzlauncher (don't use dayzCommander, this tool has issues). Contact the vendor of the tool or the vendor of the mod for any help. Edited November 1, 2014 by facoptere
cd244109 1 Posted November 3, 2014 (edited) I had the exact same problem as OP, tried everything facoptere suggested but it didn't solve anything. I was not able to join any online game in Arma 2, not even a vanilla wasteland server. However, I think I found a solution. The issue has to do with the permissions of a specific battleye folder. Here is the line from http://www.battleye.com/support.html "First of all, please ensure that BE is properly installed for your game. You can manually install it by following the instructions on the download page. If that doesn't help there is apparently a problem with your file permissions. To fix this please go to "C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\[game name]" (make sure that you can see hidden files/folders if you can't find this directory) and delete the BattlEye folder there." I deleted the folder and re-ran the game and there was no more lobby freezes. It appears that battleye pulls from the .dll file in that folder for multi-player games and if the permissions got changed on the folder it won't intialize properly and freeze Arma no matter what lobby/mod/game mode you are trying to join. By deleting it you force battleye to re-create the folder when it initializes with the correct permissions intact. I could see the pings of the other players on the server, receive the mission file, etc. and was able to initialize the load in process successfully. I was unable to investigate further as I had to go to work but I will confirm functionality once I get back home. Cheers, hope this helps. EDIT: Confirmed. All issues were confirmed by the "fix" mentioned above. Just delete that folder and it will correct itself. Edited November 3, 2014 by cd244109

I deleted the file and I get further while trying to join servers but it freezes at the loading screen now?

vinyljunkie 165 Posted November 4, 2014 (edited) Also the 1.227 update of battleye was no good for alot of players resulting in "wait for host" messages when trying to join a server. We had over 440 "client not responding" kicks the day before yesterday on our server. I e-mailed battleye and they were aware of the problem and released a fix in 1.228 as of last night. If your BE client doesn't update automatically when joining a BE-enabled server you can download the new version from battleye.com http://www.battleye.com/downloads/arma2oa/BEClient.dll Cheers Edited November 4, 2014 by vinyljunkie
