Slightly increasing regular running speed.

Recommended Posts

I find myself rarely every using the regular run (just holding w) as it's a bit slow. Sprinting is fast enough when needed but the regular run speed is just too slow imo. It would be nice if it was increased to where it's actually usable.

So you mean Sprinting Vs Jogging. That's honestly like saying *Humans should just be better*. It doesn't work that way, I'm sorry. We also have walking, but rarely do you see people actually walking. Also, shoes degrade faster when sprinting (In Exp only as of now) and you dehydrate faster when sprinting. It has it's disadvantages, jogging is needed. No human should sprint all the time, remember, this game shoots for authenticity, we're not all marathon runners. :P

Toggle sprint on, solved.

Um, no. I'm not asking to sprint all the time.

That's not what I was saying at all actually. I'll call it "jogging" instead then.

"Jogging" speed should be slightly increased. Not near as fast as sprint obviously, but not the same speed as crouch turbo. Nah means?

Let me also add, the increase should be while holding a weapon.

Just look at Arma 2's jogging. I would say that's a bit too fast for the standalone based on scale, so maybe a little slower than arma 2's jog speed, but faster than the current.

Watch first 20 seconds. Maybe a little slower than that.

The current speed in the SA while holding a gun is of an out of shape individual with spine problems and slight retardation, which is why everyone finds themselves unlimited sprinting most of the time.

Now, just keep in mind Arma 2 was a military sim, and in Standalone the devs are trying to go for a more "Civilian" feel. We aren't trained soldiers, and our bodies aren't equipped to handle that kind of stress. We aren't used to run around with guns for this duration, we aren't used to not getting properly fed, we aren't used to what the apocalypse throws at us. The speed at which the people in game jog seems fitting, considering it's a jog, and we aren't marathon runners or soldiers.

Lol, I'm not suggesting it to be in alignment with marathon runners, or soldiers, or Arma 2 for that matter. I'm simply suggesting it be slightly increased while holding a weapon because it is abnormally slow and not authentic even for a civilian in its current state. I wouldn't say authenticity is part of this argument for alpha's sake, since being able to sprint for an unlimited amount of time with a backpack and weapon is not authentic at all.

It's near impossible to find a video example of what I'm talking about, since you find people sprinting 24/7 otherwise you're too slow and vulnerable.

11:00-11:10 is the regular jog. You can see he starts sprinting immediately afterwards.
