So... Is it just me or do servers restart way too often?

Recommended Posts

So, every time I get on a populated server, even after it just restarted, I can't play for more than 20 minutes before another restart. Is this players glitching a restart(Like the splint throwing from a previous version) or are these servers just crashing over and over?

Servers crashes since .49 have been horrendous and more apt to happen on a fully popped server.  :(

Persistence related. Don't go on persistence enabled servers.

I would follow your advice but most populated servers don't tell you if they're persistent :( I did suggest putting a persistence on/off on server list unless they are forcing persistence soon.

Last I knew, sharing food that is on the ground between two players crashes the server.  That was about a week ago.

Most servers seem to restart every two hours by design not by bugs. It's in all the greeting messages when you log in. I'd like to see much longer waits between restarts and respawning loot to make it unneccesary for anything other than performance issues. The only reason they restart every two hours is so loot can respawn.

Personally, the last 2-3 days I've played I've not gotten more than 4 houses into looting before the server restarted. I actually was somewhere up north, forget if it was Svetlo or Novo or where, but there's a police station right next to some apartments. I'd loot the police station and then loot the apartments. Within an hour and a half I had 7 sets of handcuffs because about 80% of the time I went back to the police station after a restart (or crash) there'd be cuffs there. I'm 99% positive that server (and the other 2 I tried) didn't have persistence because the gas stoves I kept assembling and starting in the apartments weren't there anymore after the restart (or crash). So there's that... and those had been higher pop servers, one of them was either Pimpsy's or Kilo's.

Server restarts are 2 and 4 hours respectively for a lot of reasons. For the retention of players and getting more traffic is one. Once a server is looted people generally aren't going to stick around if it is low pop and nobody to interact with. Also long server up times can have effects on servers that I don't know much about but I would imagine they can get pretty unstable without at least a few restarts per day.

I don't think you understand. I'm talking about servers that I know restarted not 20 minutes ago going down in 5 mins after I join. I'm not dumb. i know that server restart cycles go from 1-4 hours atm. I wouldn't have made a thread about it if it were normal restarts.

They fix the ability of players to crash the servers?  The food sharing crash?  I figured it was kids crashing all the popular servers.
