Am I allowed to make a DayZ "about" program for free?

Recommended Posts

So I was wondering am I allowed to do this:

let's say I make a program. In the menu you have options, for an example weapons, clothes, map, animals, crafting, etc. If you click on weapons you get categories, automatic, civilian bla bla. Click on the map you get the map. Well, you get the point.

So am I allowed to make that kind of a program, people could download it for free, and I'd be able to put images from the game into it?

Don't see why not. There are apps on Google Play, for example, that do this.

This is not really the place to ask. I would ask BIS directly as this is essentially a branding issue.

Generally if there is no money involved in distributing the app itself and you're not making any money (even if indirectly via advertisement) you are going to be fine.

As soon as you're starting to make even the tiniest amount of money with the DayZ Graphics and name you're floating off into legal problems.

In a perfect world yes, but to be honest, with all these hackers that pay for hacks in the name of dayz and the people who make money from it, I doubt BI would take you to court anyway

Not saying make money from it, but its unlikely anything is going to happen even if you did, it just wouldn't be worth their time to sue you over it

Hello there

Trust me, its better to seek full permission rather than to assume it will be fine.

The BIS guys are not monsters and there's contact info on their main forum.

Contact them.
