SuppressionX2Q 0 Posted September 19, 2014 Playing in the Dayz, I noticed that the zombies hard to cope with any melee weapon. It is useless in the game and causes damage similar to the damage of unarmed combat. In addition, it would be great if there were a lot of zombies, but they would represent a danger only in large numbers, rather than alone. And so, I can not play this game when sticking machete zombie's head 10 times, he was still standing on his feet.
ValentinBk (DayZ) 60 Posted September 19, 2014 I`d rather have a small amount of zombies that are dangerous and hard to kill than "spamming" zombies repeatedly. That works well in L4D2, but its not a great idea for DayZ. What should be fixed is the melee system, its not that zombies are hard to hit, its just that hits aren't registered.
rybec 339 Posted September 19, 2014 The only viable weapon is an axe. Nothing else comes anywhere close to being as useful. I don't like that.

sinkatze 52 Posted September 20, 2014 I've always thought a great representation of melee combat would be like Chivalry. But DayZ zombies are a non stop work in progress and they are always testing and changing things until they find the right spot between gameplay and performance.
SuppressionX2Q 0 Posted September 20, 2014 Look. Battles with the zombies are just awful, not only by the animation, but also from the damage of the weapon.
Damnyourdeadman 1045 Posted September 22, 2014 I said it before and i will say it again...The perfect zombie combat is introduced in State of Decay. If every concept of this mechanic is copy pasted from there to DayZ none will ever complain again.

State of Decay was a smaller game, single player, with a much less complex engine designed for zombies and zombies alone. Right now, DayZ is still basically in it's development infancy and suckling on the metaphorical teat of the ArmA engine, it will take a long long long long long time before anything resembling the combat in State of Decay is introduced, and quite frankly the combat in State of Decay got boring quite fast devolving into MASH BUTTON TO BREAK FREE.

I can deny it because I actually wasn't that scared, what did scare me was the zombies that if they hit you you got infected and would die eventually anyway in one of the old DayZ Mod addons.
Robert Neville 59 Posted September 26, 2014 I have noticed that to score headhits with the axe, you have to aim a bit higher than the head. With the crowbar, to score a body hit you need to aim slightly right of the body. Any combat tips with the machete?
ChainReactor 922 Posted September 26, 2014 Any combat tips with the machete? Combat tip for all the melee weapons - stand just in front of a wall, as close as you can get and then hit it. You will see where the wall takes the hit.
