Newbie here on Wednesday Maintenance.

Recommended Posts

Hey well I'm mostly able to play near night time since i work 2nd shift but all the servers that are up ( experimental servers/testing ) say "Bad version, Server rejected connection."

Does that mean I just can't connect to it or, I'm not able to go onto those servers since its experimental, thank you in advance.

the servers are down every wed's for about 3 hours maintenance.

what you see is the experimental servers. these get the latest updates for ppl to test out.

if u want. goto game properties in steam. goto "beta's" opt into experimental. download the update you can join them on experimental.

or just wait a few hours the servers will be back up =D

I tried to play DayZ today, but found that only experimental servers were available. I do not want to play on experimental servers. Steam says I am opting out of betas for DayZ, yet it is still there. I tried playing on an experimental server because I said fuck it, but it says I have the wrong version number. From this I concluded that the server list only shows experimental servers. How do I fix this?

PS Having beta servers for an alpha game is stupid

DayZ SA will have a weekly maintenance period. Every Wednesday, at 06.00 GMT servers will go down for 3 hours.

Duration may vary...+ or -

PS: experimental != beta

PS: experimental != beta

Yes, a beta for an alpha-build game. An alpha beta. It's stupid to release an unfinished patch for an unfinished game. I'm sorry my life does not revolve around the forums.

Think of it more as a testing ground for the Alpha, not a Beta at all. Its just Steam's wierd choice of words imho.

Experimental is nothing but the first iteration of content BI pushes to the public for testing, once it somewhat works it get pushed to stable, and the cycle continues.

Its a great place to catch bugs and gamebreaking issues, before 2.5 million people get the patch downloaded on stable.

If you think its stupid, its obviously because you have no idea how game development works and what public alpha/beta testing means mate, no offense, but this is a great way to test out new builds.

Not really. In software development there are branches. What we can see here are the stable branch and the experimental branch. Those are accessible in the early access alpha. You can bet that internally BI has some more branches for all the development departments like AI, animations and so on. When those branches are complete or thought to be complete, they are merged to the experimental branch for mass testing and interoperation. If that works, the experimental branch is merged to the mainline or the stable branch. Depends on how they are called by BI. We can only see, what BI wants us to see, but there is much more and programing is much more than Hypercard made us think. Beta on the other hand is known as feature complete but bugged. Sometimes you have to test patches, which you call "unfinished", to see, how they behave in the whole.

Even if your life doesn't resolve around the forum, you should still have caught some things.
