Could this run DayZ?

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm virtually clueless when it comes to pc's as I've never been a gamer but I would like to try DayZ etc. I'm thinking about purchasing a PC, so could anyone tell me if this would be able to handle DayZ http://www.ebay.ie/i...=item1e80b34acb

Sorry for being so clueless :) Thanks in advance.

Not well. Very low level gfx card. So you could maybe run DayZ on the lowest settings... after the new renderer is in place.

And you could build a much better PC from parts for not much more money.

Thanks for the reply man. I'm complely clueless about PC's so would you be able to recommend a good cheap PC that could run the game? If you have a link to one that would be great.

Not really. Just look for one that is as good or better than the "Recommended" System Requirements of the game.

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-2300 or AMD Phenom II X4 940 or better
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or AMD Radeon HD 7750 with 1 GB VRAM or better

For reference on similarly powered GPUs, check here.

For similar CPUs, check here.

The best answer is do some research as to what is out there and only get the best pc you can afford.

Start here

  • Minimum:
    • OS: Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7 SP1
    • Processor: Intel Dual-Core 2.4 GHz or AMD Dual-Core Athlon 2.5 GHz
    • Memory: 2 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT or AMD Radeon HD 3830 or Intel HD Graphics 4000 with 512 MB VRAM
    • DirectX: Version 9.0c
    • Hard Drive: 10 GB available space
    • Sound Card: DirectX®-compatible

This should be pretty much cheap nowdays.

Pay attention to your gpu, i'm running dayz with a gt520 and i actually have 10-15 fps. Little crappy, but still playable.

That sad feeling when the $350ish HTPC I'm building will probably run DayZ about as well as my desktop.

The APU model I'm using has CPU benches slightly below my overclocked 955 BE.

Yeah, you really don't ever want a "Minimum spec" computer. Thats what is the lowest possible required just to boot the game, nevermind running it at a decent framerate even at the lowest settings.

Shoot closer to the Recommended spec, whichs till isn't going to max the game.

Recommended specs is a joke for this game since it'll never run well enough on any specs.

We'll see with the renderer  ;)

Min/Rec Specs are probably more accurate for the game post-optimization...

Well, I play DayZ on several machines.  I mostly play on a custom built machine, but I have another rig that I bought for my son that plays the game almost flawlessly.   I really don't experience bugs when playing on either.  I'm going to assume you don't want to put together your own PC, so I'll tell you what I bought for my kid.

Dell X8700-1258BLK

SKU: 2988033

Cost about 770$ from Best Buy.

Just benched this PoS game for a bit. I can probably play it with just the A10-5800K in the HTPC.

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560

I run it with a NIVIDA GeForce GTX 460 with 30-40 FPS 4GB of RAM and the rest is factory default HP Pavilion on Vista.
