I'm only fishing up trout. Why?

Recommended Posts

I fished for the better half of an hour tonight, but didn't catch anything aside from a ton of trout. Where's the seabass / tuna that's supposedly in the loot tables? Do different fish tend to spawn in different locations along the coastline, or...?

Would you happen to be fishing in Colorado?

(50–60 °F or 10–16 °C), clear streams and lakes are where they usually are. ;)

Being real though, try different areas?

Its random based on how far your cast.

The most incredible is you keep on getting trouts...

Trouts are living in rivers and there's not even one river in Chernarus... Just sea, lakes and pools.

hehe...

I guess a steelhead would be a better name for them.

Nah. Here in Colorado, they fill ponds/small lakes with Trout. They can't spawn in them, but they can definitely survive.

So, I bet the best explanation for Chernarus' trout, is that they stocked them before the outbreak.

...But yeah, rivers. :D

'steelhead' are called rainbow trout in europe (and worldwide), they are an introduced species. No one has heard of 'steelhead' here. everyone knows "rainbow trout".

"steelhead" is the USA-only  term.

["The oceangoing (anadromous) form, including those returning for spawning, are known as steelhead in Canada and the U.S"]

Cant win. A rainbow trout that spends time in the ocean is called a steelhead. US VS EU means nothing.

I did look it up.

- yep, I checked too. Also Iv'e hung out with 3 generations of fishermen.

But who cares about Europeans anyway ? I certainly don't. Really NP and thanx for being concerned.

'Scuse me while I go shoot some elk

For trout?

Trout. Easy.

I am a second generation fisherman, and I can say, that the only way you will be able to fix the whole "trout accuracy" issue, is to add streams- though, with BI's current map making tools, I can see this being very tedious.

The reason why?

Trout and salmon spawn in streams. Hence fish migrations, they return to their home stream to spawn in.

Honestly I think you are doing a good job. Keep doing that.

don't mind me nit-picking

I was surprised for a moment because "rainbow trout" is the name I've heard since I learned to walk and speak

and "steelhead" I've only met in USA fishing videos, and in technical discussions on fish (oh yes.. I know some fishing freaks)

luckily this is only about fish and not about weapons parts, so I guess not a lot of people care (or know).

I don't know what the Australians call 'rainbow trout' - maybe we will find out tonight.

I don't know if Americans say 'rainbow trout' at all. (I think Ernest Hemingway did but I'd have to check ?)

I wonder, can we catch European Lake Tuna ?

(they are very rare IMO)

I like the anarchic quality of DayZ - so there is a lot of stuff I enjoy, that purists (especially weapons freaks) seem to have nightmares about.

It is great that you guys are honest and proactive about such things. Keep on pushing through.

I am from America, and I was born and raised on the word "rainbow trout."

We'd fish the Arkansas River for them, I'd catch skulpens in my younger years for bait.

Caught some seabass, but I still haven't found any tuna. I'm kind of doubting they're still in the loot tables -- if they ever made it to the official game, in the first place.

Tuna can only be caught if you cast over 60 meters. Maximum cast is 67 meters, Min is 37.

its a small chance.
