Experimental Branch: 0.45 Discussion

Recommended Posts

Experimental Branch: 0.45.123906

The primary purpose of this exp update is based around loot spawning - just testing out some changes to the system.

The rubberbanding on 0.45 experimental is related to experiments with respawning loot. This is the first piece, issues are to be expected. They are logging a new respawning technique. The processing causes significant CPU drain, causing delayed processing of position data. Experimental is not the place for strong user experiences, it's for testing new systems. We're going to drop the player #s down on the exp branch boxes to mitigate some of the perf issues with the new loot systems.

The update is purely to allow us to track data on the hive which is why there are very few server instances online.

Untold levels of rubberbanding. Finding loot in interesting areas though, such as the carriages in trains etc.

Yeah. I have some rubberbanding. I think it's some bushes causing it.

Loot was actually in trains for awhile, now. Also in little sheds and other wonky places. This latest update's completely undone all the good of the previous one. I was having excellent performance across the board prior to today. Now I run twenty feet, bounce back, run another twenty feet, bounce back, all to a relentless chorus of zombie screams, soda cans opening, and jingling ammo.

Well - experimental not really playable now unfortunatly: extreme rubberbanding and "back-porting". I left the Airfield, was in the woods and got ported back to the tower where I felt of the roof then ^^. Hopefuly it's just because of the running update but I would not recommended playing near dangerous areas at the moment.

The new P1 looks good. Wasn't able to shoot it yet (the tower thing).

Don't think you guys have realised experimental is meant to be buggy. If 0.44 is out tomorrow on stable that'll be awesome!

Experimental servers:

Single bolts not working with crossbow or quiver.  Crossbow wont fire them, and cant refill a quiver with them.

EDIT: And cant retrieve bolts from dead zombies, but can from trees.

Am I the only one who have problems in experimental servers? I'm kinda running somewhere and it throws me back all the time, like running out of house and it throws me back at 2nd floor and stuff like that all the time. In other/older experimental updates all was fine.

Yea I still haven't found a way to get any bolts off dead zeds.

As for the bolts and quiver, I've been able to stick single bolts in the quiver. I just detach the quiver from the crossbow and drag them over it and I've been able to add single ones

After the new DayZ experimental update, the rubberbanding is extremely gamegbreaking. I can't move 20 meters without teleporting back where I just was.

My friend also has this problem right now so it's probably a global issue.

And the 100 pop servers are gone!

The new patch on experimental is interesting to say the least, for me the guaranteed messaging has almost entirely eliminated desync/banding and has made it possible for me to switch weapons and vault much more smoothly. My friends however, report no such improvement.

Edit: Was experimental updated today or something? Posts after mine make it sound really bad.

its pretty bad....

I shot a guy saw blood come out... and then he was running down the street not bleeding.

Then I tried to exit a building.....10000 times.

I agree, took me 3 minutes to cross a street because of rubberbanding.

Also, I was on the 2nd floor of a building when I suddenly broke my legs.

.45 released like and hour and a bit ago. Rubberband fest. Luckily, from the looks of it, .44 goes live on stable after maintenance tonight :D

Think this has to do with the attempt at a new item respawn mechanic. Looks like it isn't being added to the stable update for this reason.
