New weapons + scopes

hey

 

i wish there could be more snipers in this game, or at least some other scopes, or more different scopes, but first of all more variety of guns.

some of my personal favorites:

-KSVK 12.7(50 cal) - Rusian sniper rifle designed in 1997-98 amunition: 12.7x108 firing range 1500m

-PTRD-41 14.5 - Soviet union destruction rifle designed in 1941 production stopped in 1945 firing range 3000m

-RPD 7.62 - Soviet union machine gun designed 1943-1944 produced 1944-1960s firing range 100-1000 max

-SV 98 7.62 - Russian sniper rifle designed 1998 amunition 7.62x54 firing range 600m,-1000m with scope 

-SVD 7.62 - Soviet union sniper rifle designed 1958-63 amunition 7.62x54 firing range 800m

-PSO1 - optics designed in russia for the SVD sniper rifle zoom 4x

-6-24x sniper optics scope with rangefinding adjustments + mil dot

-12-34x sniper optics scope with rangefinder reticle

 

thats my wish for some new weapons and scopes, thank you!

No to the KSVK unless it's ultra rare, just because in the mod weapons like the M107, KSVK, and AS50 were ridiculous.

I'd like more bolt-action weapons, yes. They're coming. Just wait.

This seems like a list of military weapons in a mostly civilian countryside. No thanks.  This isn't CoD or Battlefield.

if you haven't noticed yet there are military camps all over Chernarus, and it would acctually be quite realistic to add more military grade weapons. all though it would be nice to see a litle bit more civilian or hunting weapons, and especially handguns.

i'm not saying they should be common... but just that i want more variety of long-ranging snipers, because it kinda makes sense in my eyes to add the possibility to have snipers, because then you have to team up even more, because the "sniper" can't pick up the loot from the person they kill, or they can cover their friends when for example two groups meet to exchange weapons or supplies.

The problem with these firearms are simply in the situation the game is intended to have. I don't think rifles should have a range anymore than 1000m at most. When the gun starts doing more for the kill that you are, where is the enjoyment? That idea of DayZ is to create a simulation of a zombie outbreak, not a simulation of a military sniper. I don't want to see snipers in SA become the mod snipers. I want to see DayZ SA snipers exemplify in ways we have never seen before, they can track a person, stay out of sight where there is no cover, and hit their first shot. Ask yourself, what fun is there in sitting out of possibly visible and audio range, (In most cases) instantly killing an unaware target and probably ruining all of their gear? However, I do love the idea of having a wide variety of scopes, this means a sniper would have to adapt to their gun to make it an extension of themselves, like it should be. I also don't think we should have very many military firearms, in a situation like DayZ, you're more than likely going to have a rifle intended for target shooting or hunting, not for killing people. DayZ's snipers should have to learn a different culture for sniping than in the mod, or real life, to give the word "Sniper" a fearsome and respectable meaning in SA.

That's not how it works.

 

Did you play the mod?

 

People don't care about taking people's stuff. People with sniper rifles only have them for the sake of killing people.

your statement is very true, and i can see now what it would create, if firearms that can shoot over 1000m where to be implemented in the game. acctually the only reason i wanted these weapons was because of the range. but i see that the range of the mosin is plenty enough when u can hit a target from the high buildings above ballota airstrip. approximately 600-900m away. they had no idea what the hell was happening.

acctually my intention was to shoot the target and let my machine gun team take the loot, and btw I usually only kill bandits or people that have killed my friends.

You don't come anywhere near representing the majority usage of sniper rifles.

Less than 10% of RL sniper work involves shooting...pretty boring life for your average bunny hopping CoD/BF player...and they usually don't go to the corpse and check the kill. I was "the bush" in clan wars...i had the least kills if i had any and my barrel was always rusty on the inside after the games...

If everything needed to be taken into consideration for a shot at 1000m or more was put into effect, ie temp, altitude, weather conditions, windage, type of ammo, hot or cold barrel shot, MOA, type of scope etc etc then why not. But lets be honest thats not going to happen so 600m would be a realist distance and at that range .308 or 30-06 is very effective (along with quite a few other calibres).

Would be nice, if, they brought in these types of weapons systems and scopes that the devs at least account for windage and elevation adjustments on the scopes, because lets face it basic ballistics have to come in so therefore a shot dead center at 200m will not do the same at 600m. 

 

Lets be honest who the hell would want to lug around 14.5 mm rifle?

KSVK, no, never, high calibre snipers were taken out of the mod for a reason, also, it and its ammo weighs a ton, given that a fatigue system is WiP I doubt a KSVK makes sense, I do like the idea of the PTRD however, but it's only fireable from a supported position ie prone.

That is as idiotic reaction as it can get. There is plenty of military camps, if you didn´t notice (maybe it would be good to play game before contributing to suggetions). Ultra rare high grade military weapons are more than fine and will add very needed variability in overall plain setup.

I think they should add in the PTRD,

  • it lacks any mounts for a scope so any sniper would need to use the iron sights,
  • its singel shot,
  • You need to be prone or have it braced on something to fire one in rl,
  • Ammo is heavy and should be somewhat rare,
  • A good weapon for knocking out vehicles and even light armor (if they add a brdm to the game or if the humvee is bullet proof it would make a good counter )
  • Might be usefull as an anti sniper weapon with some practice as 14.5mm rounds have a fairly flat trajectory  and a sniper isnt moving around much.
