Allow Iv Bag Use On Yourself

Recommended Posts

Requiring them to be used in hospitals makes no sense.

So far, the best balancing seems to be if a person uses it on you, then it takes the current duration of application of a saline bag. If you try to use it on yourself, double the duration. No other penalties or changes.

It does because this balances it in a way that you can't use it in combat . If we want balance we don't need timers or anything complex like that , all we need is a static non moving spawn added to the hospital which would be an IV stand , it makes perfect sense and that way you can use it on yourself without making it incredibly easy or able to be abused in battle.

And to balance it so teams don't have advantages over solo player : there's a real thing called fluid overload , which can happen if you try to transfuse blood (or saline =) ) too quickly , which makes your heart unable to pump blood around the body properly causing it to be trapped in the lungs which then causes shortness of breath and could possibly lead to passing out .

So lets say two friends are in a fire fight against one bandit near the hospital , the bandit's wounded but fatally wounds one of the two survivors. The bandit runs into the hospital and quickly decides to set up his blood bag at the IV stand , keeping his eye on the door . During this time the survivor is transfusing blood to his friend, yet they don't realize he (dying survior)just received a transfusion 20 mins earlier . So for being blood bagged twice in under an hour lets say , you are penalized by suffering a knockout from fluid overload , putting squads In their place who think they can be invincible by carrying mad blood / saline . And with IV stands the stealthy lone wolf will always have to slip away after a certain amount of fights to heal, he can never simply heal on the fly .

Think of it guys if you were shot could you just walk away? I don't think so but obviously we don't wanna wait 3 weeks for a bullet wound to heal so I say keeping IV stands in hospitals and to make Fluid Overload a balance for constant team healers . And the knockout would be long enough so that people wouldn't just ignore it .

I agree as long as it's more time consuming then current.

Animation to insert IV(10 seconds), hold bag and start slowly restoring blood/hydration/health (5 min), animation to remove IV (10 seconds).

Action could be canceled during restore but animation to remove IV would still happen. Blood bags and saline could be given % values like food and water that will deplete till empty during restore

got a cool idea:

-you can install the IV/Blood-infusion by yourself or by an other player, (you have a chance of failing and producing a wound or infection)

-self installation takes little bit longer and the risk for wounds is higher

-after the installation the IV-bag is in your hand and you have to hold it to the high (like the surrender animation) maybe not so realistic^^

-the process takes some time and if you move, you have the chance of producing a wound (not running just walking)

-after or during the process you have to remove the bag by yourself or by another player (you have the chance of failing and producing a wound or infection)

-self deinstallation takes a little bit longer and the risk for wound is higher

pros:

-self-infusion is possible

-if you are in a 2 men group you can dicide if you do it together and be vulnerable for a short time or you do it alone and be covered, but the chance for wounds and infections is higher

-team- transfusion is not so overpowered because you are not so mobile for the time of the process

cons:

-i dont know,im sure you will find some ^^

Besides the problems with griefers, it makes no sense a person can't use an IV bag on themselves or a blood bag on themselves.  I know nurses and they say that makes no sense and I agree, that you can't use one on yourself.  It's just a needle to insert and then retract and let drip, it's not all that difficult to do in real life.

They didn't do this for realism reasons, but rather for gameplay reasons. This way you can''t just magically heal yourself, you need help. So it's probably not going to change.

Which is why if this were to ever happen in the game , I was saying IV stands would be required to self transfuse and they would be immovable objects found in hospitals , this way lone wolf players don't have to trust a bunch of KOS bandit dooshers with giving them a transfusion , and it doesn't allow for abuse in combat because unless you're fighting at the hospital you won't be able to use it , and even then it takes time so you won't be able to use it in combat .

There are game files for an "Improvised fixture."

Ignore the haters.

You should be able to bag yourself, but the animation should take much much longer. Maybe even allow you to walk around a bit while you're being healed?

Not me, but I know people who have.  So sorry, you clearly don't have a clue what you are saying.

I agree with this, its not like there is an abundance of saline bags anyways. If u take some of your own blood, then it will take time to recover from that anyways, which means you're vulnerable to getting killed faster.  Also, if they add this in

http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/181829-blood-bags-in-hospitals/?hl=%2Bblood+%2Bbags+%2Bin+%2Bhospitals

theres a lot you can do with that feature.  If you drain the blood from you and put it in your bag, it's warm (read my posts on that thread), which means it wouldn't last as long anyways
