Less Military. More Apocalyptic. (Clothing)

Recommended Posts

I agree with all of this. The look I currently go for in the game is "partial military" - for example Brown Hunter Pants, Checkered Wool Coat, UK Assault Vest, hunting Backpack, and a radar cap. Looks much cooler than full Gorka IMO.

What I'd really like to see is the ability to make something like this (for the headgear). Instead of the Chitin helmet maybe something more sensible and appropriate for the game, such as a Ballistic helmet, Tanker Helmet, or some other type of helmet, maybe even an improvised one. I'd reply like that creepy-looking goggles and headwrap on my character.

I definitely think craftable FUR clothing would be awesome and practical.

Think buccaneers in the wild west... Or barbarians in ancient germany!

I would love to have the option to put your hood up on your coat or hoodie to protect you from the rain. It seems so ridiculous to look at your character wearing a raincoat and a hood down around their neck when it's torrential rain. It could also work to warm your character up too. Important to still be able to wear a cap/beanie underneath. It would be nice to see a few more storage slots in some of the existing or up and coming civilian clothing to avoid the standard Military look too. In terms of household armour there would of course be knee pads, elbow pads, and american football/ hockey shoulder pads. Would be great to see those in and effective against an infected hit.

The simple fact is that military gear is designed to be carried through end-times and come out of it still hanging on... Further, camouflage is how you hide in nature... As for in urban terrain, you're probably best off pulling a Solid Snake and wearing a cardboard box to blend in... However, camo still works in urban environments, as it does exactly what it's designed to do; break up the human silhouette... Woodland camo isn't as effective on a background of say a yellow house, but it still makes a human silhouette look less like a human silhouette, etc...

If there was a way to build ghillie suits (out of burlap, rope, and the military top/bottom of your choice, say), that's what I'd be wearing. ;)

As for guns, it's simply a matter of being the most effective way of making things dead... And military-type rifles are designed for military-type duties, such as keeping Infantries alive whilst other Infantries are trying to make them dead, and instead, making the other Infantries into dead Infantries... Don't be a dead Infantry; get the best gun you can. :D

Sorry for eventually derailing the thread a bit ;)

This is from Mad Max 1, which isn't even set after an apocalypse lol. Pretty bad movie compared to Mad Max 2.

I'd like to see more improvised backpacks in the future. I also prefer more civil style backpacks than military.

I suggest Improvised Jeans Backpack! just a concept nothing serious :D

Dayz, if it is allowed to create Mods as in Arma3, we will already have many interesting things.
