Suggestion: Clan Insignia for shoulder sleeves and hats/caps; tattoos even

FYI, I COPIED THIS STRAIGHT FROM MY POST ON THE STEAM SUGGESTION FORUM


Just a suggeston for the future. As most games revolve around cooperative play (whether you're bandits or heroes or just casual friends with benefits) and DayZ is no real exception, I think it's vital to have clan's feel like they really stick together like a community.

Idea: Have a custom clan logo upload/customization available. Create and allow Shoulder sleeve insignia (patches) that players can attach on their character's side of the shoulder (regardless of wearing a T-Shirt or Jacket) and on hats/caps, perhaps even backpacks. Custom decals could also be possible on Helmets.

This can even require a resource to create (ie: items such as cloth and a needle and thread perhaps). 

I think this would allow players to feel part of a crew and distinguish eachother without being too easily distinguishable at distances (which still allows the realistic possibility of friendly fire).

Something like a patch on the arm would obviously only be clearly visible at close range.

I don't see why this would be too hard to implement and would give the game a more team-like feel such as a group of bandits with logos, or heroes with logos. A symbol to people nearby that you may belong to something greater than just being a nobody on the streets.

While we're on the subject, perhaps even tattoos. 
Anyways, there's my two cents.

I actually promote this, as long as these insignia's are either A. approved by the community individually, or B. by the developers. I've had enough of sdeeing dicks and vaginas in games. CoD and BF did that for me.

I guess I didn't pay attention in COD enough to see clams and bananas.

 

But just have a long list of premade ones.  But since a tattoo machine would be slightly unlikely to find, maybe we could craft them using a hammer, one of the many pens, and maybe the kitchen knife?  Maybe just add in branding and supply a few branding irons as loot, then you could just have text.  So, uh, I guess you would read the words Penis and Pu**y and what not.  That might be worse.  Either way, the way they look in game should be nasty and messy, since the odds that our toons have a background of "tattoo artist" it seems like it would be realistic.

 

The patches to me seems even less likely, since they are patches that would have to be made somehow, and at the end of days, I don't think too many seamstresses will be around.  But maybe custom details, like finding paint and painting the symbol on the back of a jacket (When did the devs say they are adding denim vests?  And Harleys?), or on the side of a helmet, or on the front of a TShirt like Affliction or Ed Hardy?

 

Maybe even just a customized bandana that you can either wear like they are already, tie around head like Rambo, or tie around arm.  The Bandana could have the insignia painted on it too. 

 

Although I still stand by my earlier thoughts on the patches, I guess a simple patch, like intials or a smilie face could work, as long as we had to choose from premade options.  If not, yeah, lots of swastickas.  Swastikas?  I'm proud to admit I don't know the proper spelling of that word.

That's a huge amount of unnecessary work for the developers.

If people seriously get offended by anything mentioned in this post (including dicks, swastikas and whatever else), then perhaps a zombie game where you can be killed and other people can shoot you, handcuff you, feed you rotten food and poisons perhaps isn't for you.


grow the fuck up or get the fuck out. this game was never in good taste to begin with. it's a survival game. now let's enjoy it the way it's meant to be enjoyed.
