The song that explains DayZ fully?.. Should be DayZ's theme tune..

Recommended Posts

Well all you seem to do is walk in empty fields and follow roads alone.. I thought that maybe they should use the song "Green Day - Boulevard of Dreams" as a theme tune/song... Like on the main menu screen... I know to get rights to it would probably be too much effort and maybe money? But how fucking funny would that be? Like it's not even the Genre of music I like.. But it's just funny that, that's basically what you do on DayZ! Haha.

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But its home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadows are the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart is the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I'll walk alone

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh-Ah
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh...

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line of the edge
And where I walk alone

Read between the lines of what's
Fucked up and every things all right
Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive
And I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadows are the only that walks beside me
My shallow heart is the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I'll walk alone

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh-Ah
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh...

I walk alone
I walk a...

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk a..

My shadows are the only that walks beside me
My shallow heart is the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I'll walk alone!

Too easy...

You know, the backing track actually got me on this one, Just had it in my head, walking down a road with that on, few lads maybe? It's like a country beat/theme or something isn't it? Haha

Haha yeah it is quite good for listening to whilst playing, makes everything more epic and seem like The walking Dead :)

GEMA problems

(same song)

although I would rather have some eastern european music style instead of that american western pop/rock.

I like it, but it doesnt fit into Chernarus :D

They need to have some sort of theme tune on it, that is optional to turn on and off. But like when you're in a field and nothing is going on, a tune comes on to kind of give you something to listen to! Although it could put you at a disadvantage, cause if a guy is trying to shoot you and you can't hear it over the music, it wouldn't be too clever would it haha. They should definitely put a theme tune on the menu's though..

It so needs to be this:-

I think this is used in too many zombie things though tbh, it needs something different, it's own. If they buy me a music production programme I'd happily have a go at making a DayZ only theme tune  :D

I think it should be something that is calm but kinda puts that uneasy feeling on you.. Like something is going to happen any minute?..

I think some dont understand that a company cant just take a song from someone else and use it for their videogame.

They need to pay for using it or they buy the rights.

The more popular a song etc is, the more money the record company wants. (in most cases)

I would suggest:

Bohemia Interactive and especially the DayZ dev guys open a competition about creating a piece of music for the theme song. (or THE theme song)

The winner that made the best piece will get an amount of money.

I think the lyrics from the band Shai Hulud's 'Medicine to the Dead' are pretty fitting for DayZ:

My Kingdom for a conversation...

These lands are far from silent.
Resounding with the tumult of the dead:
No words awash with depth or concepts wiser than unwise.
All notions of sanity are laid to rest within walking drones.
The living lifeless, straw men set to burn.

No cures..
No means to inject sense into the senseless.
No Hope
Medicine to the dead.

And forward without foresight, further down a destructive path,
Step to a future in flame.
The exchange of thought and communication for heedless instinct will leave us charred, not merely shamed.
Left in a woe fused with wrath.

No cures.

None who believe to be well will ever be healed.
Nor the sick who dare to speak outside the realm of reason.
A hospice in vain dispensing medicine to the dead,
Our kingdom is lost.

Crack open the stiffened mouths of the skulls.
Delight in the breaks.
Overdose the dead with proven remedies,
And we remain no less hopeless.

We live among the fiercely ignorant and irrational.
There is reason to fear.

Among the fiercely ignorant there is always reason to fear.

The blind and sick and mad believe they are sane.

My kingdom for a conversation.

Our kingdom is lost.

This is why I said "I know to get the rights would be too much effort and money" I understand all that, it was just a mad idea I thought. But yes, They should have a competition to see who can make the best piece of music and use it, it would be a good event for the company and get people involved and also it would be a lot cheaper than buying rights.

Also, why is everyone so posessed with lyrics? Most theme songs for games dont even have lyrics.

The theme song has to express the overall feeling in the game.

So f.e. Fallout 3 had a really depressing but in some point epic theme song.

It showed the listener that the overall situation in Fallout is dangerous, depressing, sad, violent but also impressive and epic.

/edit

Check out how epic this menu theme for "EOD" for Battlefield 1942 is.

Its old but gold.
