Right now I don't even care about zombies being implemented. Even with 15FPS I would play it all day! EVEN WITHOUT LOOT! explode.gif

Take all the time you need, Make sure the game is 100% worth buying. I am glad you all are working so hard for those waiting for the game, but remember that rushing it wont be worth it in the end. Can't wait to hear more, thank you for the update!!!! Good Luck ;)

It really is an Alpha

I really can't emphasize enough - this is going to be an early access project on steam. It's a true-blue alpha. Massive areas of the engine were entirely reworked, involving a large team of people over the last 12 months. Much of what these achievements will enable won't be seen for many months - so I really plead for anyone who is on the fence to take a skeptical approach - watch streams, read reviews, watch some let's play and form your opinion. You could always come back to the game in three, six months time and buy it then.

Buying early will be a recipe for disappointment, it's a chance for those who want to be part of that whole process. For them, the process is as much as part of the game as the whole experience. For many, this is the opposite of what they want. To enable a smooth launch, we really are targeting it at a core audience who want to get deeply involved in a very barebones experience that is a platform for future development.

This good but most people on the forum and reddit know this.  We are the ones who follow the news.  We know alpha is alpha.

But how will xXJohnxDoeXx on Steam know this?  Plenty of people will see DayZ Early Access pop up and purchase without knowing what they are getting into.

Are you planning on posting disclaimers on the Steam page too?  I like the idea of a series of fail safes on the buy button  .  Similar to what you would see if you try to delete a file or something.

Are you SURE you want to buy DayZ: Early Access?

Yes

Really?

Yes

It is super alpha.  Are not you afraid of bugs?

No

Okay fine.  You can buy it.  But don't say we didn't warn you.

Something to warn xXJohnxDoeXx that the game is janky and he should manage his expectations.   :D

Nice work Rocket and Co!

I've got one question though: will early access folks be allowed to upload to Youtube?

Yes, that will be allowed and encouraged.

That mean its going to be copies-limited alpha ?

We don't plan on limiting copies, but if something bad happened we might stop selling until that problem was resolved.

Thanks for the update -- will give me more time play KSP .23 ;)

What?!?! is it out! you better not be trolling me!

Hey there, when are you in NZ next?

Good stuff re SA, love to be included in initial test once released. Long time ARMA player.

Cheers

Wayne

Thanks for your answer ! Last from me :

Will there be official statistics for every player like was planned before ?(rezzed 2012 session i think) Number of kills/death, total distance walked, death infos, survived time etc. Some survivor profile at dayzgame.com would be very great feature.

We will be collecting this information but I am not sure if our official website will be hosting the information.

My preference would be to figure out a good (secure) way to allow the community to host such sites and information, as there are some extremely talented people out there.

Yah know, it could be a great marketing ploy for final release, to have a compo for the first six months, that the longest hours survived wins xxxx... Or somehting vaguely o the sort (all gamers think we are awesome, and buying the game is as good as ensuring the victory, i just think it could be a neat lil marketing tool. But err.)

Also, why K2!!! youve climbed everest!!! russian roulette is a safer bet than K2!!! Your'e a mad men! Braver man than me. (in saying that.. my ole man was always trying to talk me into saving for antartica, doing some peaks there... he died on a fall on mt taranaki!!! one we climbed once a week through winter... so err, yah gotta do these things while you can i suppose, only live once)

Is the Zombie life cycle still a possibility in the SA? :)

I say not to waste resources on that because in the end I believe some zombies need to be respawned at some point. Not funny when there are no zombies in the server.

Question : Having not saw much from the day/night cycle from videos and devblogs. Is day and night currently in the alpha or is it something you guys are still perfecting?

Hello there

I'd like to remind everyone of this little but important detail.

Re reading this part will save many folk a lot of inconvenience and mods a lot of work.

The update is appreciated, I for one will be happy to assist with feedback for the alpha. It gives me a chance as a player to be a part of development. And for this I Thank You!

Dafuq?

Equestrian sighting!

I'm going to play this game as if my input will effect it's development, in the sense that I fully expect to find/report bugs and improvement ideas.

Therein lies the essence of an Alpher state.

Sounds like you're making great progress!  I'm glad to hear you're taking the time to make sure everything's working adequately before you release it to the hounds.

If it's worse than the mod out of the gate, it has failed.

The whole point of it is to be better than the mod...it's the sole reason it exists and if it isn't... don't release it.
