WE ARE NOW RUNNING EPOCH v.1.0.5.1 !

Server IP: 89.151.204.151:2302

Heroes and bandits of Chernarus!

[A VISION]

We take Chernarus from the corrupt! The rich! The oppressors of generations who have kept you down with myths of opportunity, and we give it back to you... the people. Chernarus is yours. None shall interfere. Do as you please. The powerful will be ripped from their decadent nests, and cast out into the cold world that we know and endure. Courts will be convened. Spoils will be enjoyed. Blood will be shed. The police will survive, as they learn to serve true justice. This great land... it will endure. Chernarus will survive!

Well.. We may not be as cool as Bane, and we don't aspire to be like him, but we think the masked bandit got something right. For as long as private servers have been around, so has the oppressive administrators. And for some reason, they all seem to be short tempered power trips or tank-spawning, teleporting ingame gods. We don't think that's fair, and we don't think that's right. It's within their right to do what they please with a server they own, but when they act in their own interest rather than that of the community, we don't see why players should stick around. That's where we come in.

We aspire to build a server, an arena, where the players excel. Where the raw emotions DayZ can bring about is experienced to the fullest. A place where the players and their experience is our only priority. That means a place  where the administrators help their players out when they experience difficulties, where the players don't get kicked or banned for their playing style or voicing their concerns, and a place where the administrators don't abuse their powers. We hope to achieve this by having mature, adult administrators, who are experienced both within the game and from past administrator jobs. This is the place we have envisioned, and this is the place we work hard to create. If you'd like more information as to how we plan to accomplish what we've set out to do, take a look at our mission statement.

[THE DETAILS]

In our mission statement, we stated that "Maintaining a server where the players and their experience is our only priority". And we stand by that. But that promise does not only include administrators who do their jobs. It's also extremely important that our server is running smoothly, and that the changes we do to the gameplay is reflected in our players' taste. We have tweaked the server as we see fit before the release, but we are more than open to suggestions that should arise.

The server is running the Dayz Epoch mod, with few changes to the mechanics. We want DayZ to be hard, challenging and unforgiving. But we see it as our responsibility to do modifications that enrichens the experience. We have listed the most prominent changes below.

GENERAL SERVER SETTINGS

  • God mode in trader zones.
  • No backpack stealing in trader zones.
  • The server's spawning car count is reduced from 300 to 150, as we want to focus on teamwork and car ownership by buying them at trader areas. There should still be plenty of cars standing around though, either to keep or to sell.
  • Minimal starting gear to enhance the feeling of progress throughout a player's life.
  • Two anti-hack programs running, and a shared bans database.
  • Veteran server to enhance the need for teamplay and as an entry barrier to get through to the seasoned DayZ players.
  • An active community with great players and personalities.
BASE BUILDING

  • Building parts are tied to your unique player id, so you retain ownership even after you die.
  • Build snapping to make base building easier and for more symmetrical bases, even when playing solo.
  • Building materials (wood, cinder, metal) decay after 3 weeks, as to the Epoch standard of six days.
  • Plot poles cover an area of 100 meters, and area maintenance is only 1 gold. We only want to remove abandoned bases, not punish people for building awesome ones.
  • You can buy combination locks at the trading areas. Introduced to make it easier and encourage players to build bases.

CUSTOM EXPERIENCE

  • Custom buildings that add to the experience. We have made a few new balanced additions to the game to add some battlefields.
  • Service stations where you can refuel, repair or rearm for gold (at all current gas stations with roofs).
  • Construct bikes! We have recoded the great bike script made by cen, so that you need two wheels and scrap metal to craft a bike.
  • Online tools for player statistics and trader prices.
  • Cache missions spawn at random intervals. This proves for a good source of gold AND intensifies the gameplay when the whole server is rushing for the crates.
  • NPC missions are implemented for extra income and for our thrill-seeking players.

[MAYBE U.. TAG ALONG?]

We'd love for you to be a part of it. Either if you're a hardened bandit or a loving hero, there's room for you and your journeys at The Purgatory. We can't guarantee you a safe passage, and we can't guarantee you a long and happy life, but we can promise you that we've working hard getting the fundamentals of the server right, and we strongly believe that building on the input and criticism from the player base, we can do miracles together. The place is called The Purgatory, and the IP address is 89.151.204.151:2302. We'd love to see you there and become a part of the family. And if you need more than this wall of text, you're always welcome over at PurgatoryDayz.com.

I can vouch for this Server, I have been on for the past few days now, its very well run and friendly to Bandits & Heroes alike.

The Admins are on almost all of the time, and they accept server changing suggestions from their players, a very kind and mature group.

I hope to see you with us, and be sure to check out the website. :D

The wonderful "Build Snapping" script by OtterNas3 has been included to work on the server. This, paired with the chainsaws you can find in NPC missions, base building is now less of a grind and more fun!

We have now introduced the Namalsk blowout effect for an added survival aspect. In addition, we done some changes to the car spawning system, so there should now be easier to find server spawned vehicles. Selling these vehicles proves an effective source of income, and thereby a foothold, for new players.

And we are still planning some other additions and improvements over the next week. Welcome to The Purgatory, and stay tuned!

We have added a custom, modified "Deploy bike" script to the server. Players who have a toolbox, two car wheels and scrap metal in their inventory can craft a bike! The wheels and scrap metal will be consumed, and the bike can be deconstructed. Introduced for bambis to have an alternative to Running Simulator 2014™.

Welcome all!

We have now added service stations to the server! All gas stations with roofs can now refuel, repair or rearm your vehicles  - for a price! We are in the process of adding some base defences and fences around these gas stations for a more immersive experience.

Hope to see you on, survivors!

I have now tweaked the bike script to be performed with a right click to the toolbox instead of being available for misclicks in the scroll menu. That should make the function much more discrete.

Hope you like it!
