Eating a dead animal would be very dangerous. That way living off the land is a little harder. Otherwise if you could go to any dead tree and eat bugs, survival might be a little too easy. Oh no it is quite the contrary. It is found in soil as a spore. Animals eat the spore occasionally. Inside the animal, the conditions can become right for the spore to germinate. HIV isn't really found in the wild, i thought? Before antibiotics, people who worked with animals would occasionally get it and die.
